I'd say the little girl entrepreneur is the hero. Saw a market opportunity and went for it.

Does this asshole ask for business licenses from lemonade stands?

I'm sure the cops had nothing better to do.
The chick diving behind cover when being spotted by a camera was kinda funny.

I wonder if the cop rolled his/her eyes when they came to the scene.

I remember walking down state street or mich ave back in the day and there would be kids all over the place trying to sell you something. Never did I think to call the police on them.

This lady is a fucking clown.

Do you think people should be allowed to choose which laws to follow?

Ignoring the law makes one a hero?

I saw neither a "fixed location" nor a "fixed location....in conjunction with a community event". The girl was not operating as a Temporary Food Facility under the ordinance, so the particulars of the law do not apply to her.

Try harder, counselor. You're losing on a point of law to a guy that didn't go to law school.

What is her mark up on the water? If she is charging $1 per bottle when she pays $5 for 24 then that would be profiteering ,no?

Is water not considered food goods?

This isn't your best effort. Or at least, I sincerely hope it isn't.

Yeah if there's a permit requirement to sell non-food goods, there probably isn't a permit requirement to sell food.

Sec. 869.

Ah, I see it now, I have no idea what you were linking to, but I found the local municipal code:

Quote:
SEC. 869. PERMIT REQUIRED.
Except as provided in Articles 24, 24.1 and 24.2 of this Code, it shall be unlawful for any person to peddle goods, wares or merchandise, or any article, material or substance, of whatsoever kind, including persons selling fruits, vegetables, fish, fowl, nuts and eggs on the public streets or sidewalks of the City and County of San Francisco without first having obtained a permit from the Chief of Police and having paid the fees and been granted a license as required by law.

I don't know where the peddling was happening, the video perspective indicates that the filming was being done off the main sidewalk and in some kind of plaza that may or may not be privately owned.

Even if it was on the public street and in violation of local ordinance, I am fine with a young girl learning about business by practicing it, and would gladly pay the $50 fine for a first offence.

Also take the time to think about how pathetic you have become in your lame "gotcha!" attempts with me.

Thinking that people shouldn't get to choose to not follow immigration law and that a single person shouldn't be prosecuted for violating a local ordinance is not the same thing, at all.

Glad to know now there is room for nuance in dear old JLN's heart. No price can be placed on this knowledge.

i was given a ticket for starting my car on our neighborhood street and going back inside to get my lunch before work. its the law.

i fought the ticket. when i went to court, the DA showed me the book where the law explicitly states that i was breaking the law and that it was put there due to car thefts. I showed him that there hadn't been a car theft in 1/4 mile radius of my house in 30 something years and that officers make common sense judgements all the time. I used the book to show this as well because in that same section it discusses speeding which cops let go all the time. also above the starting car on the street law was a little law regarding turning your wheels into curbs properly when parked on hills of x amount of slope. I said i bet we could drive up and down the hills surrounding the courthouse and issue hundreds of tickets but cops don't because no COURT would ever uphold those tickets.

the reality is our gvt DOES choose when and when to not enforce the laws on the books. That means there is precedent to not be an asshat unnecessarily.

i've read up more on this and the lady had a business selling marijuana. wtf.

now she's resigned from being ceo of that business. not sure how that works. if you're ceo don't you own the damn thing?

anyway sounds like SHE was the one without all the required permits to sell mary jane.

if she just minded her own fucking business none of this would happen and she would still be working.
