Place I work now sucks. Put out a resume to a few places last week and got a verbal go after a meeting on Wednesday. Told me they would confirm today. I can't wait to submit my resignation letter to these assholes |

Can I recommend that you not resign until the end of next week. Take the salary and an easy, four day week. |

I keep hearing the days of people staying at one place 10+ years is no more. Just curious. My son is a millennial and he does the whole 2 year thing. He thinks people who stay at the same place more than 5 years are crazy. How is it these days? |

I can't wait to submit my resignation letter to these assholes I recall a few years back we had a discussion about another job you had, Ike. You posted that out of the blue, they wanted you guys to start documenting what exactly you did throughout the work day. I remember telling you that they were looking to fire one of you guys and eventually they did... Correct me if I'm wrong but one of the three of you were indeed let go? I knew this because they did the same thing to us about ten years ago and it took a couple of months but heads eventually rolled. Good luck! I hope everything goes your way today. |

I know what is going to happen. once he deems i'm ready, the boss is going to fire the guy who's training me and i'll be taking over his job. i sort of moved here to avoid this type of shit. i am now going to be setup to be the bad guy and enemy of the workforce. because i'm good w/ the boss. anyway out? If i tell the boss i'm not interested and i'd like to go back to doing blue collar work i know he'll be pissed and let me go. |

Make sure they schedule the start of the intramural season to coincide with tax season, and that you get your self a staff to help you out.

I think I would be more worried about the finance guy who's job you might be taking. I'm no financial guy but doesn't he have the ways and means to possibly plant some "time bombs" in the books to make you look bad in the future if you indeed get the position? Someone with more knowledge of the finance/books/applications perspective would have to weigh in. As far as your rank and file brethren, they will eventually come around and get over it... as long as you were a good co-worker and didn't step on/screw over one of them to get that position. Good luck, HawaiiYou. |

He thinks people who stay at the same place more than 5 years are crazy. How is it these days? Generally I don't think people stick around for the long haul much anymore. I have been with the same place for 14 years now. A lot of people where I work have been here between 25 - 40 years. It's not a horrible place to work but it is far from the best either. I think sometimes people get in a spot where they are comfortable. That is probably what happened to me. Counting moves growing up and moves after college the number is way above 25 times for me. I've been in the same house for 5 years and really not too excited about moving any time soon. |

I am rooting for Ike to make his situation better. I don't understand those who don't in these type of cases. I've worked with a lot of sleaze bags in my life and even if they don't have any work relation with someone who's leaving for a better place, they use to get all riled up and hateful at the person. never understood this. if they used that hateful energy to do their jobs maybe they'd be in a better place. |

How is it these days? companies refuse to give significant raises anymore, so people find other companies willing to pay them more. in fact it is well documented the fastest way to make more money in this economy is to find a different place to work for. switch every 2-3 years to get the biggest raises. it really comes down to management being dumb and thinking everyone is the same, so the cheaper the better. |

I would guess in sales that may be would be different but I guess it depends where you work. Ike - do you get use to switching jobs every 2-3 years? Is it hard for you to start over each time? and what do potential employers think that you're not at a place for too long? |

I have worked for shit people. I have worked for great people. There's no reason to work for shit people... not long term anyway. i'll tell you back in the day when I started in my early 20s, I worked for a bunch of assholes for 6 years. every day was bullying, harassment, and threats. Once they were done chewing me up, they spit me out by laying me off. Therapy back then was considered only for the clinically insane so I had no outlet to grieve my anger. I could have been those guys who you hear now shooting up a place. I"m not kidding. It took me years to get that out of my system and recover. But even after that, I had PTSD of sorts from that experience. Luckily I was still young and had other opportunities and then did my own thing for a while. But got to admit, even today, I know that whole experience hurt me psychologically. It's good today they have therapy and other outlets for people. But I never got over it. I think that's one reason I have confidence issues at an old age and especially at work or starting a new job. |

Everything is exciting and you're viewed highly generally. When they get sick of you, just get a new gf. As a manager it sucks because you have to implement whole plans and databases and whatnot. It takes time to get your process rolling and by then you're already sick of the place. |
