Sounds like a heavy hitter really itching to do some damage on the Eastern Seaboard. Finally Florida and the Gulf Coast catches a break. The storm's destruction will likely result in a flurry of insurance claims, stimulating an already robust economy with construction/repair work. Over/Under I will take the over on a CAT 3 and say this makes landfall Saturday as a strong CAT 4 |

Current forecasts are for it to make landfall at the higher end of the Cat 4 range. Winds at 140-145 mph |

I spent a Saturday in July driving and ferrying north from Moorhead City to Nag's Head/Kitty Hawk. It had rained the night before, and streets were flooded all over the place from a simple slightly heavy rain storm. These people are going to get crushed this weekend. It's the one thing I worry about moving to the Triangle next year. I was supposed to fly into Raleigh on Thursday AM after my west coast business trip ended. I bailed out and picked up an award flight home to Chicago instead because American/United/Southwest all wanted $550 last-minute. I'm just waiting for Delta to get around to issuing a weather waiver so I can cancel my original ticket without penalty. Southwest already put theirs up this morning. |

Aspen Insurance is getting bought out by Apollo. If Aspen has a large cat loss, the buyer can back out. There is a put option play. |

Why is the Trump Administration sending hurricanes to attack the East Coast? Retaliation for the NYT Op-Ed? What false flag operation will they be running while the hurricane is raging? Why is no one asking the tough questions? |

Once you've heard 145+ mph winds, you hope like hell for anyone living in it's path. |

Do you guys think this is the big giant generational storm as Bernsie out it that will doom the Cubs? He is seemingly a bit over the top give the recent cone projections. |

If anything, it might fuck over the Braves if it keeps on drifting west-southwest after it makes landfall. They've got 3 at home against the Nationals this weekend, and it would mess up their pitching rotation if they suddenly had 3 rainouts to try and reschedule. They'd have to play the games even if they clinch the division, because it'll affect seeding in the NLDS/NLCS. |

He's just balancing out clowns like Limbaugh on the other side who parrot Koch brothers anti climate change drivel. It's all amusing imo. |

He is just carrying the Cubs' water that they do not want to go. |

Cubs game won't be affected at all. It'll probably be sunny in DC. |

I'm looking forward to Weather Channel footage of Jim Cantore hugging a pole on a beach in NC in 120 mph winds while tree limbs, family pets and Fiats fly by. |

Also being pinned against the coast and the Appalachian mountains, I'd expect rivers to flood like no other. If it stalls on the coast there just isn't anywhere for that water to go. |
