Assess the state of the board over the past 6 months. Has CFMB gotten better or worse? Or has it stayed about the same? Please explain your responses in this thread.

The answer is glaringly obvious.

I'm not sure about that. Is the board noticeably different now from this time a year ago? Have we reached a point of stasis after a period of sharp decline? Are things improving after having bottomed out? Or have we entered an inexorable state of decay that will lead to the board's irrevocable extinction in the next 6 to 18 months?

I tend to oscillate in my assessment of CFMB. Some days I think the board only has a few months left while other times I think we may be able to pull things out and last a little longer.

Me, I guess.

One obvious problem is that the state of Chicago-based sports talk radio has significantly diminished over the past five years. As a result, the core conversations here have shifted from sports talk to politics. But a sports talk message board whose focus is largely politics can't sustain itself for very long. So where do we go from here?

The declining posters haven't been replaced by new posters. Free agents may be needed.

The board has improved and it's getting better every day. Even the tone of the political threads have DRAMATICALLY improved recently. Overall the sports thoughts are better than anything you get on both sports stations. MANY are telling me this is the best the board has been in YEARS. I agree with them.

It's stayed the same or improved if you stay out of the politics threads.

KS is back, though in an attenuated and impotent form. I'm actually surprised that OKC hasn't begun posting again. I'm sure he would be welcomed by many, and his sudden, unexpected return would generate exactly the kind of spectacle his narcissistic megalomania craves. The problem is that his overwhelming and pervasive psychological instability would cause him to rethink his decision--most likely in an excruciatingly public and tedious manner--and he'd flee the board within 8 weeks or less.

Before Kavanaugh started gang raping women the political posts were down over 50% year over year the past 2 months.

KS is big with the Wisconsin sports and sports radio Twitterverse. He doesn't spend much time posting anymore.

Kid seems to be much happier not posting daily on a message board. He's smarter than most of us.

Agreed. With the Bears being good (hopefully) all year, that may change.

Look at the active topics. The overwhelming majority of them are sports related. Just 3 months ago they would have been Trump related. Even Tall Midget has started contributing again.

We’re voting for Peter Roskam and Bruce Rauner. Got three this year and four for the next Presidential election.

It's a pretty bad kept secret since everyone knows about it and is invited to join.

Besides each of us plays a role in the direction that the board takes. Change the tone of your posts, have good thoughts or be entertaining and the board will continue to ascend to heights never seen before.

The board is much better since I added Baby McNown to my Foe List.
