For argument sake, let's say if you need a cell for work you can still have a basic cell phone that can only be used for work purposes.

So which one would you choose if you had to choose one and never again use the other?

For me the answer is obvious. No way could I live without a DVR. I could live without a cell phone. Only area that would suffer is I like to use Waze for traffic, but I guess I could just use the GPS built into my car.

Cellphone. I probably put my phone down an hour out of the day until I go to sleep.

I can assure you that one can learn to live w/out a DVR.

Nobody ever 'needs' to watch an episode of TV. One might 'need' to make a phone call.

DVR for me. I have a cell phone but mostly just for emergencies or whatever. I often forget it in my car for hours at a time and don't miss it at
all. In fact when I take a trip to Milwaukee or Chicago and don't know the way I still write directions on a piece of paper and don't use the phone at all.

Who do you yell, "Contact," to when you are trying to start the Model-T?

With Netflix and On Demand, phone is a no-brainer.

Cellphone for listening to my podcasts. Streaming services take care of the absence of a DVR.

Isn't a cell phone essentially a DVR these days?

Shakes wants to walk around with a brick phone so he can have a few shows on DVR. I have Hulu for free through Sprint, Netflix free through Xomcast and OnDemand has never been better. The only thing that would be a DVR must would be a Bears game and I almost never miss one.

Say what you will about Wisconsin, I like it up here. I am very hesitant to embrace technology it's true. I am betting a lot of millenials couldn't
even read a map if I gave them one. SAD

Hulu for you should be free since Sprint isn't giving you constant coverage.

Or knew how it felt when you needed to go to the gas station to get the local map.

Depends on who is counting. New millennials will never understand life without technology.

I know how it works. I refuse to use it because I don't feel like I need it. More challenging when I write it down and not have a robotic voice
tell me when to turn left or right. My wife uses it, and I guess it is kind of handy if you are not familiar with where you are going. You can also
use it if you are slow and need someone to hold your hand all the way to your destination. :eye:

But it is a map. On a screen instead of a paper, but it is still a map in every way. The map could be used without GPS directions successfully by anyone comfortable using it, and those skills translate to a paper map. I love shit talking people as much as anyone, but let's be realistic here. You old hats don't possess some magical map reading skill set.

I'm so good at it I don't even use the waypoint feature in Red Dead Redemption 2.

I can't argue with you, it is an interactive map that is read for you by a computer. I realize I am the one with the problem because I don't use the easiest
and most convenient method. Your method also has been proven to me by my better half to show the faster way and options to miss traffic and accidents
which my method doesn't account for. it also is more difficult for me in the dark which your method also accounts for. When I grew up I was fascinated
by maps and would look at them extensively on road trips in the back seat as a kid or before we would take a trip. I still do it if we are taking a road trip
to get a feel where we will be passing by and such. I do truly believe if I were to give a folding, printed map to a 16 year old kid and had him try to figure
out how to get to a destination, they would struggle with it. There is not much need for maps anymore, and I am sad for that. I get a hard time at home
for digging in my heels and sticking to my old ways. My wife shakes her head every time I buy another expensive boxed set of CD's of music I enjoy. At
the gym I still listen to an old iPod Nano that is probably ten years old and not use my phone. These are just additional examples of my old skool tendencies
