Thanks to Cody "Corey" Parkey "Parker", the sound of a football hitting the goal posts is a point of discussion today. Each of the major sports has unique sounds. Which is your favorite (and feel free to pick a different sound for a given sport)? Basketball: The swoosh of a nothing but net jump shot. Hockey: The ping of a puck hitting the goal post (my personal favorite). Football: The Parkey missed field goal "bong". Second place is the double thud of a blocked punt. Baseball: The crack of a perfectly struck baseball off a wood bat. |

There is a sound specific to the NBA that I love: When a jump-shot lands at just the right angle at the back of the rim and goes shooting straight down through the net, barely grazing it. You get the pleasing sound of the "swish" but accentuated with a metallic sound from the rim, and the visual of the net barely moving. |
