She has a history of making big scenes on holidays. One time we were there for early Christmas and she left for like 2 hours because her and my brother were arguing.

Everyone has this relative. You gotta record it.

All my relatives are great. I'm probably their answer to this.

Everyone has a family member with a mental illness nowadays.

I got several that could fit in this category.

Thankfully as far as I know none of them are coming to see us for Thanksgiving.

May have an annoying sisternlaw here for a few days near Christmas.

Both sister in laws. If I'm lucky, the younger one will get her time seeing my kids out of her system today before I get to Michigan.

My wife... I kid.

There is a sister in law with lots of drama. My wife and her just conflict. It doesn’t help that my wife has a habit of sticking her foot in her mouth and the SIL is... well.. it’s Thanksgiving so I’ll be kind. I generally like everyone with few exceptions so I more don’t like dealing with aftermath.

I like and love my relatives. I like to see everyone. The complaint about my side is that everyone goes home to early. The complaint on my wife's side is that everyone goes home too late.

It pisses me off when my brother falls asleep on the couch and then demands leaving by 8 pm because he gets up at 4 am even on non work days. It also pisses me off when my FIL sits down to the holiday meal paid for and cooked by everyone else but hosted at his house as if he and my MIL are master's of the feast. That is small stuff in the big picture.

My wife's older brother and wife are fine. My wife's younger brother and cuntbag significant other could die tomorrow and I'm not sure I would care. Fortunately, she is pregnant which makes them doubtful to be in attendance for any of the Holiday festivities.

That is good news for you.

But why does being with child make them doubtful for holiday dinner? That seems odd unless she is possibly going into labor...which could make for a really interesting meal

Maybe she's a paranoid germaphobe who's afraid that being around groups of people (and Frank) will negatively affect her pregnancy.

She is due Dec 22nd, so I understand and actually appreciate them not committing to anything for Christmas. They also live in Huntley which is 75-90 minutes from us.

Everything has to be done on their schedule, their time frame, and their way. So yeah, I was not going to apologize for saying "fuck no" to leaving the house at 7am to have a second 'Thanksgiving' of coffee and sweet rolls at 9am Sunday because he has to work at 2pm. I'm sleeping in, and its my wife's last day of maternity so it was just not an option for us to do that. We're hosting Thanksgiving for real tomorrow, and they were invited, but "had other plans already." Yet, we are the bad guys for "screwing up their Holiday" for not wanting to trek out with a 2 month old baby on Sunday. That is just the way they are.

Plus it's gotta be tough to default to a gif at the dinner table.

As much as I enjoy getting together, I did not hate the year my wife gave birth a week before Thanksgiving and we had to sit home alone with just our little group for the day.
