I would say the November 25 one is no. 1 all time for Chicago crazy storms in November. I'm leaning Snowmageddon because it has to be in the top 5 all time.

The 20 inches of snow was bad but I was at home for that. The dig out was the biggest issue. In late 2006 or early 2007 there was a snow storm and it took me 8 hours to make a 1 hour drive home. I saw cars spinning out all over I94.

I'd like to write a post
in the voice of an agéd
New Englander, perhaps someone escorted,
just before his inevitable deballsification,
from a middle chapter of a thick Stephen King novel--
or even that antediluvian sumbitch
from the Pepperidge Farm commercials,
who, if he ain't dead already,
must be old, old enough to have used
Hunkie as a pejorative.

I’ll see your Katrina and raise you a Hurricane Ike (Galveston) or Harvey ( Houston)

If you judge a hurricane only as a wind event, then yes I agree.

That said, if you only judge hurricanes as wind events you are a dunce.

When I was a kid, a tornado hit our neighbor's garage.

It jumped the garage and took out the half of the garage between it and the house and then jumped the house. House was unharmed.

They just boarded up the half of the garage and the rest of my growing up we'd drive by and see their half-garage and I was always reminded of that tornado.

Didn't hit our place at all.

I actually thought it might be, but I am stupid and don’t have any idea of current jokes/memes/pop culture references so I did the best I could.

Harvey was the worst hurricane rain disaster by any measure.

I actually spent quite a bit of time in NOLA the summer after Katrina. I did my part to stimulate the vice industries there. What was quite fun is I went to all the fancy famous restaurants there, yes including that one, and walked in there looking like a bum (shorts, flip flops, etc.) and they said stuff like “Normally we would toss you, but we need the business”. I wasn’t trying to be an asshole, I was just a drunk 25 year old stumbling around looking for some creole food. One place did make me put on a sports coat, which looked funny with the flip flops.

Galatoire's scared me off with that one.

But I will admit to putting on a collared shirt for Pappas steak house...in 1991.

Katrina saved me from moving to the hard core American South (South of I-80). The boss was thinking of doing a land trade on this farm and was looking at a place south of effingham. It was kind of a neat farm but he visited the day the remnants of Katrina moved through. It was windy, dreary and I’m pretty sure I heard dueling banjos being played as we walked around the place. Every now and again I think of it and thank my lucky stars.

Worst storm I’ve been is either seeing a tornado come down about a 1/2 mile from me or the three feet of snow we got at our place the first Christmas Eve in Bozeman. 7 or 8 years ago the 20 odd inches we got on groundhogs day was the worst I’ve had to work with. 6-10 foot drifts are not a lot of fun to dig out.

Worst I was alive for that my family was affected by was probably the '67 blizzard.

I thought that was the ice storm, but that was apparently in '65, a year before my time.

The most fun was being 12 during the Blizzard of `79.

It doesn't count if you saw it on TV. Witnessed means storm that you saw in person.

Very sad that the bears and their fans finished what Katrina started that year.
