I never really worried about whether people liked me saying Merry Christmas, etc. No one ever really gave me any shit for it either. That seems like faux outrage. But yea, some of the other holiday decor is cool, too. |

I guess when I think of it, it's insignificant to roughly 99.999% of everyone else...I'm in that .001% |

The out of the blue "daddy, I love you", "no, I love you more", "no, I love you googleplex times infinity", back and forths...or "dad, you're the best" coming from a 6 year old, are pretty tough to beat. I guess these aren't all that insignificant though. |

One side doesn't get to claim something as universal as enjoying Christmas |

Falling snow. Be it little tiny crystals or big fluffy flakes. It's just kind of beautiful and peaceful and makes me smile. Unless it's Mid March thru Halloween...then fuck that shit. |

The sound of line being stripped off a fishing reel by what must be a big fish... ...and then getting the fish to the side of the boat. |

I guess these aren't all that insignificant though. If my 3 year old has a good day at school, follow rules, does her work, etc, she gets 2 stickers from her teacher. These are like gold for her. In the 7-8 months since she moved to this class, I can count on one hand how many less than 2 sticker days she's had...she's devastated when it happens...Monday, I got home from work in a less than stellar mood, and the first thing she asks me is "did you have a 2 sticker day today, Daddy?" And she's asked me that every day this week...cracks me up. |

I love the smell of a burning campfire in early fall. First sip of an ice cold beer on a really hot day. Smoking a cigar while grilling. |

When any of my OCD quirks happen to resolve themselves. Like when I'm in bed and just starting to get comfy and instead of jumping up and checking that the door is locked for the third time, I can lay there and assure myself that its already done. It makes me feel like I'm not totally losing it. The other 6 days that week, I'll get out of bed and check but that 7th day... man is that peaceful. When I have a friendly/funny interaction with someone in retail. Most of the people are soulless automatons but when you get someone that's genuinely nice... that can change my whole day. Ironic considering I'm usually such a curmudgeon. |
