Two extra hours to relax. More time to prepare food. No crowded parking lots. You can play superior music to the subpar church choir.

Personally I will spend the time I saved watching the underrated Christmas movie Fred Claus since Santa is the reason for the season.

Anyone else happy to skip the whole Church thing?

I used to work at the missalette factory with Skip Church.

I almost forgot about the uncomfortable seats. Can't I thank Jesus in a padded seat?

Actually Christmas is the one time when the church music is great.

Also, you don't go on Christmas eve AND Christmas, it's one or the other so it's not two hours.

I'm talking from when you leave the house. Plus you have to talk to people afterwards.

You get your Christmas choir. I'll take the voice of Michael Buble.

I do miss the Jesus wafers though. Where can you buy those?

Thinking about doing a Midnight Mass crawl tonight. As Joe Orr Road Rod will attest, my neighborhood is basically the ecclesiastical version of that entertainment complex in Rosemont.

I have been to church on Christmas Eve maybe five times in my life, and never on Christmas day. It was never my family's thing, because when i was a kid my mom hosted Christmas dinner for 20 and she was busy preparing.

I haven't had Christmas decorations up for the last three years. Two years ago my mom had passed in August, last year I was recovering from open heart surgery and couldn't lift anything, and this year my uncle passed right before Thanksgiving and we're still inside the 40-day mourning period. It's really disconcerting, and I have barely even played any Christmas music on Spotify or on XM in the car. This is my last Christmas living in Illinois, so it's a bit of a bummer.

This sounds like a cry for help. Kinda like you know that you are doing the wrong thing and you want someone to help you get back on track.

Hungry for the word. I think that it all depends on how important you want church to be to your kids. I've never been a fan of the NYE service.

Just slap some port wine cheese on those and you have a delicious ticket to hell.

I worked at one Catholic school where every Sunday mass was a minimum of 2 hours and sometimes 2.5. There was always at least one ten minute drum worked in, using during collection. That being said, those masses felt shorter than the typical 50 minute mass I was used to growing up and had at most schools.

The Catholics should make the move to Vanilla Wafers. I'm sure that Nabisco would give the Pope a fantastic deal to become the official worldwide wafer of Catholics, too bad he's such a socialist that he wouldn't take it.

Hey if you want to worship the late december birth of a guy who holds a shepherds crook and was born of virgin birth and was raised from the dead (because he was betrayed by a close confidant) for a few days before his final ascension and whose body a represented by bread and will ultimately be the final judge of the souls of the passed, you could consider worshiping osiris.

Its wonderful to have a priest who can deliver a succinct message and keep his audience engaged.

Thanks Fr. Bill!

A Christmas Tradition unlike any other.

Leave Joel Osteen on in the other room and it is like you went.

I vote Bastille Day to be the best holiday to celebrate for which I have no connection. It turns the 4th of July into a full season and the red, white and blue decorations are reusable.

Olsteen can burn in a fire.

What church are you going to where the christmas eve service is longer than half an hour?

You guys go to some weird churches. Starting with the catholic church.

Never heard of him. Must be a PR problem
