https://www.yahoo.com/amphtml/sports/ch ... 04004.html Quote: No, you (probably) can’t hit a 43-yard field goal. That’s what one Chicago brewery is banking on in an effort to defend Chicago Bears kicker Cody Parkey. Parkey missed a 43-yard game-winning field goal on Sunday in the Bears’ playoff matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles at Soldier Field, after the ball hit the goal post twice. The Bears fell 16-15. That, obviously, didn’t sit well with Bears fans — who have come after Parkey hard since the blundered kick. So, Goose Island has joined dozens of Bears players and other athletes around the country in defending Parkey. The brewery announced its plans to build a goal post on the street in front of its building in Chicago this weekend, and will offer anyone free beer for a year and “eternal glory” if they can make a 43-yard field goal. Actually attempting a 43-yard field goal will hopefully help fans understand how hard that feat really is. And, if nothing else, free beer is definitely a good start for Bears fans who need help getting past the heartbreaking loss. If it's not windy I think they are going to be giving away more free beer than they think. |

I kicked a 17 yarder (old extra point) a few weeks ago in Green Bay. 43 is pretty far. |

Highly doubtful. 43 yd kick is a long haul for an average Joe |

first 10 people in line will be ex-college kickers... parkey emailed them to ask if the goal posts are inflatable or rigid |

To really simulate what Parker went through the brewery should first pay for 10 years of first class kicker training and skills development for everyone who's gonna kick. Only then can you truly put yourself in Parker's shoes. And I know his name is Parkey but he doesn't deserve the respect for me to spell it that way. Parker is easier. Parker sucks. |

43 yards is a pretty good kick but as was pointed out above, there will likely be college kickers there. This asshole that was one of my partners in a business we had about ten years ago kicked and punted at S.I.U. They had a contest in Carbondale for a regular guy to make a kick. I don't know how long it was, I'm sure not 43 yards. Anyway, this partner of mine coached a guy and he made the kick. I think the guy who made it was one of the owners or had something to do with Mary Lou's. In any case, my former partner's picture was on the wall at Mary Lou's right next to the door last time I was down there. |

RFDC wrote: Highly doubtful. 43 yd kick is a long haul for an average Joe The Average Joe, yes, but in a city as large as Chicago I would imagine there are at least a few ex-college kickers and soccer players who, under favorable conditions, have a good chance at making a 43 yarder. |

True there will be a few, but not very many. |

Not surprised that a Deep State brewing company like Goose Island would come to the defense of Cody Parkey. Revolution should host a kick the crap out of a Cody Parkey pinata party at the same time Goose Island is bravely reinforcing the status quo. |

Parkey apologists can go fuck themselves. He missed 10 kicks this year prior to the attempt, including several extra points. Everyone knew he would be a problem int he playoffs. These people are more fucking annoying than Dan Bernstein when he tries to cover for management. |

Golic and Wingo were talking about this around 6:35 this morning. Golic Jr. is going to give it a try. Golic thought it'd be great if Parkey showed up...not to kick, but as a gesture. Not a bad idea. So many people are going to break their asses doing this. |

Yeah, this is why this conversation is so stupid, and I've seen it so many places. "You can't do it so shut up." Give me $8M guaranteed, 10 years of practice and access to world class training facilities and strength training coaches. Then put me out there. |

Anybody who makes the field goal should be invited to compete for the PK position at Bears training camp. |
