When ever I meet up with you guys and have to explain how I know you or see someone I know from here and others ask how I know you I tell them I played in a co-ed softball league with you. I can't say I post on a sports radio message board and some of you embarrass me.

Yes. Especially 15 years ago. I don't necessarily "lie" because then I would have to remember what I said but I don't really say anything meaningful when questions are asked. People don't generally ask follow up questions either. I did it with Hood recently when he asked me a question. This place used to be very mean to him.

Really? I thought the board was pretty much on Team Hood when the shit with Telander went down even though Jonathan acted like a big fucking baby. People understood why he was pissed.

I don't think it was just reserved for his blow up with Telander. It got nasty at times especially during guest posting days. A lot of personal stuff. I generally defended him but I don't think I shared that I was related to him until Facebook exposed it.

Im worried about Hood. I like the guy and Im sincerely not being a dick, he is getting too old to carry all that weight. Needs to get healthy.

I used to lie or at least give answers other than "this is my internet friend" but I dont care much anymore. Seems much more common people know each other from meeting online now.

Let's just say that weight hasn't prevented a good 20% of our family from touching 80. I generally agree with you though.

I don't generally give a shit anymore either. Lady Nas knows about the board and that I occasionally hang out with people from here.

This. Pre-2008 before I joined the Army I used to tell people you were old high school friends. Then I had a going away party with some people from here and some of my cousins and my web of lies got exposed and my cousins thought it was hilarious I lied about it.

I seem to remember someone posting records about how Hood was delinquent in paying a bunch of bills after he got axed at the Score. That was creepy.

Yep! It seemed really personal.

Not that I recall. I may have said "a group of friends" just to avoid some drawn-out explanation, but I don't think I've lied out of embarrassment or to hide how we met.

I usually default to "they are in my fantasy football league". Kind of true.

I tell people you are my friends from my stint in prison rather than admitting to this place.

I've met up with people on two different boards. Spaulding and Gridiron Assassin ended up being in both groups.

Aggravated Sox Fan Bob is the one board person referenced by a mutual friend who doesn't know the board exists. I hung out with Bob at a funeral. Actually, I have been to two funerals of two people unaffiliated with the board at which I have hung out with board members (Eaglo).

I have run into Joe in more casual and unplanned instances than I can remember. We have bumped into each other at Cub games a handful of times.

Easily the most surreal joining of the worlds was introducing my kids to Sini, Joe and Joe's wife at Northwestern.

I haven't been to an outing in a long while. I think my last hang out was Old Crow when bigfan put this place up for sale.

I always considered it more of "I don't feel like trying to explain it".

I don't think I ever have, never really had a need to. When my wife and I first started dating, I was in Beneath 51 with Doug & Darko and explained to her how we all hooked up so she has know about the board pretty much since the beginning. A good chunk of my friends know of "the message board guys" as well because sometimes paths have crossed due to Sox games, music shows, Pearl Jam pregaming, etc.

I did a couple of times at first, but with it being a common thing for awhile, I don't know why anyone would care anymore.

It's become ok to tell someone you met your gf online. But you must follow up with what app you used.

I don't say shit about this place . Not with my post history

No...in fact, when I introduced my wife to the board at first, it was a Katie O'Connor's show, and I explained that some are friends, some are people I argue with on the internet while I should be working...
