Used to be a SOLID station, but now it's shit. I challenge any board member to watch it for an entire day.

I still remember when there was a countdown to change from Channel 60 to Channel 50.

And seemingly played music videos all the time.

Speaking of music videos on the local UHF band, does anyone remember that "JukeBox TV" gimmick that was on something like channel 23 back in the late 80s / early 90s? I remember catching some videos on it before walking to school as a kid, but it's hard to find info on it nowadays (read: it'd prolly take 2-3 Google searches before I discover anything)

Edit = I'm pretty sure it was this syndicated/ish network here

Every time I turned it on there was a static filled and heavily censored 2Live Crew video on.

It saddens me that SHARK hasn't returned for this thread.

I remember the format switch between 66 and 26, but WPWR 60 is before my time.

I remember channel 23 as the brokered ethnic channel that would have shows like Lithuanian Issues in Review and Assyrian Insight. I could pick it up over the air on my bedroom TV, but it wasn't on our cable system, so I felt like I was receiving secret transmissions.

Yep til Reinsdorf and Einhorn screwed up and placed them on Sportsvision. I think that might be the single biggest reason as to why the Cubs became much more popular in the city.

We moved away in 1979. So, I missed all the channel jockeying after 44. In the Illinois Valley, I would venture to guess that there are just as many Cardinal fans as White Sox fans. That was one of the first of many things I found odd moving away from the city... why are there so many Cardinal fans? I do believe that the Cubs have the majority of fans down here. Always have - large part due to your point, ltg - WGN.

Yeah, out here I’d say more cardinals than White Sox but it’s pretty solid Cubs for most part with a few random teams tossed in.

The superstation was also why there are so many nationwide Cub fans. More exposure equals more fans. Who’d a thunk it. One kid in the neighborhood had Sportsvision. If you wanted to see Sock games, you had to go to his house.

One of my family members had that entire series on DVD. Sadly I couldn’t make it through one episode. It was that bad. But as a kid, I loved that show.
