why not. the worst he would do is steal a chunk of rich peoples money, they pull back investments and the economy goes to shit but everyone will get free $1000 checks every 3 months so they will feel like they are living large. after a few years of the economy looking artificially bad (because no investments), we will elect another R and for some reason believe they won't find a way to funnel that free money back into the hands of the ultra rich, and the rich will invest again because they know they will get their stolen money back.

An economy with no investment is not "artificially bad." Such an economy would be actually bad.
