Post subject:  Local Media preferred Smollet over Aurora mass shooting
Even on Friday these two stories seemed to share top billing on the couple local news broadcasts I watched. i guess it's more a comment on society that a 5 person workplace murder is now so mundane that an actor's fabricated assault is getting more press.

It is pretty ridiculous on their part. And perhaps our society as a whole.

On the Tribune breaking news site the Smollet story was consistently the first or 2nd story even when nothing was breaking. Also on abc7 site.

They are two different types of stories. One is a mystery where we keep peeling back layers of the onion and things aren't what they seemed to be. Another is about a fucking psycho that got fired and went psycho and everything is exactly what it seemed to be. There's only so much to report on that before you start getting into minutia or things that will take literally months to get done through government passing legislation and such. The Smollet story is still unfolding, the Aurora shooting is more or less over.
