https://www.foxnews.com/us/texas-shooti ... atch-party I find it ludicrous that a bar would be held responsible for a murder rampage. Hopefully the suit fails. |

It is not, nor has it ever been, a moral high ground vocation. |

The article says she did call the cops, but it was too late. I don't know... seems like quite a burden to put on bartenders to make them determine who might be a potential murderer. Sometimes there's no one to blame but the guy who killed 8 people. |

She actually followed him to the scene of the crime...then called 911. It doesn't say whether it was before or after the shooting started. She gets a misdemeanor. What about the bar he came from? Aren't they liable too? Hope the bar has a big insurance policy. They're going to be paying out. |

I'm sure they'll get a payout, but I find that ridiculous to hold a bar responsible to any degree. |

I don't really have a problem with the bar sharing some responsibility. |

I mean they hold bars accountable when people leave and drive drunk right? |

This guy was. 33. They knew him. She admitted he must have been drinking someplace else because he was hammered. |

The Code wrote: "A person commits an offense if the person with criminal negligence sells an alcoholic beverage to an habitual drunkard or an intoxicated or insane person," according to the code. It sounds like the text/s the bartender sent kind of lean towards the intoxicated person defimition, but how the hell are you going to be a judge of sanity? If they're not doing something egregiously ostentatious? |

In a civil trial, they will have to show that drinking was a proximate cause of the murder. They might, but I just find it hard to say that alcohol caused a guy tj murder 8 people. |

In fact they tried to push to have all alcohol serving establishments have a breathalyzer on site and make patrons use it before leaving. If they blew past limit the place of business was responsible for them getting home. |

Jbi11s wrote: I’ve never had a bar stop me from driving home drunk. Me, either. I think holding the bars liable for driving is tough too. Can you imagine being a bartender at some of these larger places and determining who is fit to drive? They don't even know who the drinks are going to while they work their asses off. Not to mention the ones who would probably threaten you if they didn't get their requestes drink. |

I’ve had a server ask me how I was getting home once as it was a long evening drinking way to much at a conference but I was walking back to hotel so it wasn’t an issue. I’m usually borderline paranoid about DUI so I rarely will have more than two drinks if I’m going to be driving. |
