You're forced to give up one for life. Which one do you keep?

The above poll is close to 50/50, which is fucking insane to me. Spices is the very clear answer here, right? Who the fuck would choose to never have spices again?

Ideally you'd have both, but spices are more important.

So you're just gonna have your hamburger plain, your hotdog, plain. That salad looks delicious with all that, um, lettuce. But at least you can put a pinch of oregano in that sauce. Knock yourself out.

I'm keeping the condiments. No f*cking mustard? Are you nuts?

You can easily make mustard by using the spice, water & vinegar

A burger is still edible even if you just throw some cheese, tomato, onion, etc. on it.

You want to take the spices out of the ground beef the burger was made from?

The main condiments are what? Ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, BBQ sauce and variations thereof.

People faught fucking wars over access to spices. Is this really even a question?

If you want to get tricky you can try expanding what falls under the condiment umbrella. Like, is vinegar a condiment? Olive oil? Chopped onions? Then I suppose the question is more difficult.

I guess I'll take spices, since I can make condiments out of spices and other foods.

But if you give up condiments, then by the transitive property any combination of spices that creates a condiment ceases to exist. That's how this works, right?

I dont know how this works. A spice is a finite ingredient. A condiment is a recipe.

no. no. no. the part of our brains holding the knowledge on how to make condiments never exists.

The hardest part is giving up ketchup on a steak.

yeah, basically most condiments require a ton of spices. but spices require no condiments.

ergo the question is stupid.

I'll take spices all day long.

I bet I could live without 80% of spices, so I'll take condiments. Now if you consider herbs as spices then that's a different story. I'm keeping my herbs and making condiments.
