I bought a Hyundai Sonata, which is essentially the same car, in December. It's got a ton of great features and it's slightly sportier than a Camry, but it's loud as hell and not very comfortable. On your standard letter grade scale we've all experienced, I would give it a B/B+. |

I remember when Hyundai cars were first introduced here, I thought that they were absolute crap until I rode in this generation Sonata. So I lost the bias I had against Kias I'd never driven. |

You'd be surprised how many " American" cars are assembled in South Korea or overseas. A 10 year - 100 k mile warranty speaks for itself |

It's not a bad car, and I expect it to be reliable. Also, as an added plus, at least for me, it's made in Montgomery Alabama. Which is more than you can say about the Buick Regal I was considering, which was made in Germany. |

IMO a santa Fe is the best bang - buck available. I just bought a used Nissan Murano with 15 k miles for 21k |

I travel a ton for work and get saddled with Kias quite a bit for rentals. Their cars are trash. |

My warranty from trade rolled over and I have 100,000 on everything but tires, wiper blades, brake pads and battery. I am real pleased. |

I had a '12 Optima SX. It was a fun car to drive but unfortunately it wasn't reliable. Absolute shit ton of features. However, the engine seized at 55K miles but it was manufacturing error for which Kia issued a recall. My car was under warranty and they replaced it. But annoying nonetheless. My backup camera had to be replaced twice because it kept shorting out. Once under warranty and the other by myself. A caliper seized at 70K I think? Not a big deal, ordered a new one and fixed it myself. Not ideal but shit happens. Ultimately I traded it in for a Toyota because I kept getting recall notices for "minor" issues. Toyota is no saint but I have better peace of mind with them. It's a little annoying that the 2019 Toyota I have now has less features than the '12 Kia but I knew that going in. |

Just bought a used 2018 Sonata limited with all of their driver assist crap and I'm very impressed. Total cost with tax and registration was around 20K. Went about 100 miles on interstate in fairly heavy traffic and I didn't have to break or accelerate once. The auto-steering isn't all the way there yet. But it was fine on interstate with moderate traffic. |

RR called it....Hyundai's were absolutely trash when they first arrived and have come a LONG way. Kia's appear to be on the same trajectory. Friends of mine both have them and they're happy with them. I liken them in quality to most Chevy / Fords. You'll get your 100K or so with minimal problem. Honda and Subaru are still on another level of quality....and you pay for it, but it's there. My 2008 Honda Civic has $210K miles on it. The AC made it until 170K miles. The starter and alternator died just recently. Outside of that...the car does nothing but run. It's a boring, plain car, but the quality and reliability is undeniable. I was skeptical it would be worth the extra $4k or so compared to a comparable chevy or ford...but it has been for sure. Nothing wrong with buying a Kia. they're a good value. |

I traded a 2010 Buick La Crosse in I bought used 8 months ago with only 55000 miles on it. Every fucking sensor on the thing was going out like clockwork. After the Stbili trak sensor came on after I replaced an EGR two weeks ago I was done. Had a 2004 Le Sabre with 230000 on it before and never had issues with it. Planned obsolescence . Fuck that. |

Solid as a tank unlike the old gen Fortes. Totally different build chassis wise. Interior looks like a stinger and well appointed. No power seats though but nobody will drive it but me and wife on occasion so I can live with that. |

Kia and Hyundai (and Genesis) are fine cars. The new Fortes are solid compacts. You made a good decision twice. |

Does anybody drive a Suburu Outback? I rented a 2019 from Budget the last time I went back to Chicago to see my dad, and I was impressed. I love my 2013 Equinox but I don't like the changes/shrinking they did to the 2019. I change my cars out at about 120-130k, so my Equinox has 2.5 years left on it and I'm looking at 2019 SUVs I can pick up used at that point. Keeping somewhat on thread, I don't mind the Kia Sorrento or the Hyundai Santa Fe, but they are a little small for me to drive every day. After 18 years driving SUVs, I can't go back to a conventional sedan. |
