i just got a ticket in the mail for making a right turn on red on lasalle street a few weeks ago. it clearly shows me in the right turn lane and turning right when it snapped the pic. I know there wasn't a no turn on red sign because i wouldnt have done that if there was.

this happen often?

They usually have a link of the video. I always think I stopped and then when I watch it I see I fucked up.

Wait until they get those toothbrush cameras that bust you for brushing less than 2 minutes in the morning.

Either that or actually stopping - but beyond the "stop line".

Had no idea that was a law until I got zapped for it.

But the light is red. I don't get how people would think you wouldn't have to stop first....

The rolling right on red was a staple of the cops ticket giving repertoire in my youth.

Red turn on red should be abolished.

Exactly. I just assumed that, if no one was coming, you just had to slow down. RFDC is right that it makes no sense--red means stop, bitch--but I never saw anyone do it when the way was clear.

Also agree with JORR. Turning on red causes lots of problems.

My sister once got two -- both from the same intersection, both within a span of 60 minutes, and both for doing rolling rights on red. She wanted to argue Double Jeopardy.

They don't give a fuck about it in Chicago either. It's not about traffic safety.

lmfao i saw the video i barely slowed down hahaha. the guy behind me didnt stop either but he was going slower. i dont think i can fight this one. still think its bullshit you guys get ticketed by computers, what type of orewllien shit is this

i also think i didnt see the red light. it was yellow as i came up to it. i would have been looking left when it turned red... i never blow a red like that so i must have thought it was yellow. it definitely turned red before i crossed the line though.

i paid the ticket. it was a yellow light, changed red right before i crossed the line. my point was i did not do anything nearly as dangerous compared to driving 30mph over the speed limit. do you acknowledge you think like a woman?

I’ve trained myself to count to 5 in my head on red light right turns. A couple $100 tickets for rolling ‘stop’ sucked.

Post subject:  Re: red light cameras

thats gotta be brutal. im so used to driving 'as needed to be safe'... i dont worry about every detail. again i cant imagine a cop actually caring, they drive the same way. i bet they get their picture snapped all the time... its obvious those things are just there for money, not safety.

Red light cameras do not reduce accidents. They are a money grab.
