I assume you know what the date is.

I think that, given the choice, MANY people would rather fly on the 10th, or the 12th.

Also, I keep seeing "Patriot Day" on Facebook, and at first I was reading it as "Bbitch Day"

I do.

The two checking ID’s for the TSA were unaware and were wondering out loud why I was the only person in line for security

Why am I not surprised that TSA agents have no idea why they have that job?

TSA agents are the people that got fired from the Dollar Store.

Which reminds me, I need to get the real ID compliant license.

I was in the air on 9/11 when the first tower fell. I was supposed to fly that night but a colleague asked me to come in early so I caught a flight as a stand-by. We landed at Syracuse when the national ATC stop was called, and drove back to Chicago three days later.

For several years, I didn't fly on 9/11. Now I often fly that evening as there are always low airfares.

The thing that freaked me out more was the first time after 9/11 that I flew in and American 767. I had gotten upgraded and I found myself mentally profiling the other passengers for the first hour.

I was at my desk at the CME and was talking to a customer from NY who mentioned a "commuter" plane had accidentally crashed into the first tower. A few seconds later, I looked over at the quote screen and the every market showed "FAST", which was very rare. I walked over to another office and was watching ABC News as the second plane hit, and then everyone knew it was no accident.

The CME closed early and I stayed until around early afternoon. It was surreal driving down the Eisenhower with virtually no traffic at that time of day.

I was living at home and attending Moraine Valley at the time. Classes more or less were dismissed as people found out what was happening. I remember I got home around noon, and was the first one on my parent's block to put the American flag out near the front door.

Was teaching at Mount Carmel. Surreal. That night at Jersey Joe's (86th and Pulaski) was even more surreal.

Many of them are former enlisted men/women with excellent military records. Although the primary quality that is valued in a soldier- the ability not to question anything- is exactly the opposite of what you want in a TSA agent.

My sister was fired by the TSA pretty much for being too competent.

I am in New York today and flying out this afternoon. I admit I was feeling creeped out when I first reserved the ticket.

Watching the local news here this morning and they are doing a 9/11 memorial where they read out the name of every victim.

Wish I had more time, I would have gone down there today.

That's what I assumed had happened, that it was some dope in a small plane who had gotten too low. As I was watching the second one hit.

Because you did not fly Monday, Thursday, Friday, or Sunday.

It's like me noticing there are no lines at the grocery at 6am on a Wednesday. What a mystery.

I was supposed to fly to DFW that afternoon.

I was working at home at about 8:30 when I got a call from a colleague. She asked me if I had my TV on. When I said no she said, "you may want to turn it on."

The other thing I recall from those days was the fact that living in Arlington Heights I am quite accustomed to the sights and sounds of planes coming and going from O'Hare. By contrast the 4 days or so after 9/11 when all flights were grounded our neighborhood seemed so quiet.
