This is the girlfriend who I offended at the Adler Planetarium when I dismissed the space shuttle program by saying something like, "They let civilian women ride it."
I do understand that that was kind of sexist, but for a guy my age, as a boy growing up, the astronauts from Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo were like cowboys, larger than life. They rode on giant rockets that might explode at any moment. It seemed like a much bigger adventure than something that resembles a plane that many of us fly on many times a year. Still, I couldn't really blame her for getting mad at me.
