Any thoughts on Planet Hollywood as a hotel? Looking for a place at Christmas and I like the location and price. Room reviews seem pretty good as well but I haven’t stayed there since it was The Aladdin.

Never stayed there but played there a number of times. Dancers on tables. Central location. Gordon Ramsey's Burgr is excellent.

Stayed there a few years ago. Really nice location. Room was fine, but really who cares as long as there isn’t hepatitis on the bed.

Only gambled there when I was seriously drunk and the dark lighting in the casino was disorienting in a fun way.

Would stay there again, but not my first choice.

PH is one of the best mid tier hotels. Rooms are decent. Location is great. The casino is fun albeit loud. I find the restaurants to be below average, although the buffet is the best for the money. The pool sucks.

We stay at Mirage now, but PH is one of the best choices overall.

Welp I go twice a year. Be there on 11/22-11/25 if any of you plebs want me to order you a free drink at the poker table.

I need to give them a try again. I used to stay there when they had an affiliation with Starwood, and they still had low limit poker back before Black Friday.

My last couple of trips, which are usually only a day and a half, I've been staying off strip. Stayed at GVR over the summer in a business trip. I like South Point because they have a good sports book seating area, solid guest rooms near the casino valet, and it's easy to get to off strip restaurants.

What's a good family hotel in vegas or one that has a good pool?

The place is not designed for kids. But the Mirage pool is very kid friendly. In fact, it makes it boring because you never get a party atmosphere.

Circus Circus. Its cheap and a tad tacky but it is kid friendly.

New York New York too i guess Vegas isn't really a spot for kids (unless they are just turning 21) but you might be able to find something for them

Excalibur is sorta kid friendly, but a dump. But it's definitely better than Circus Circus.

Excalibur is absolutely disgusting. Do not bring kids or anyone you like there.

Don't laugh, but you might want to check out the Trump hotel. It doesn't have a casino, so it's quick to get to the rooms. It's right next to the Wynn and Venetian. Good pool. When I stayed there a couple years ago, they upgraded my family to one of the penthouses for like $250. Seemed like the Trump name was not good for business.

It's best to decide what the goal of the trip is. Vegas is a strange place with kids. It's kind of like living in a mall, but your kids can't do 95% of the fun stuff, and the mall never ends no matter how far you walk. Pretty much any non-cheap place is going to have a pretty nice pool. Most of the insane party pools are separate and require a cover charge and an age limit but you still get people having a good time drinking 3 foot tall sugar bombs of alcohol and saying to their friends "Vegas, bro!".

So it basically depends on what your plan is. Are you trying to see a family friendly show or two? Do you want to walk the strip and see the fountains and the animitronics of Ceasers Palace? Do you want to do a Grand Canyon Tour?(By the way, you don't, ever).

Unless you really know Vegas, I always recommend staying near the middle of the strip in a hotel that fits the price you want to pay. So, that basically goes from MGM Grand(which really isn't the center but at least you can walk in a few directions) to the Venetian. Across the street from them is NYNY to Mirage. Basically, one day you walk in one direction, and one day you walk in the other direction.

Most of my stays were at MGM Grand. I always liked it.

I've never stayed at Excalibur, but it is the sight of the greatest run of blackjack I have ever had in my life. I won or pushed 21 hands in a row there one night, turning my initial $20 investment on a $5 table into over $3k. That was a great night.

I would not take kids to Vegas. They'll be bored after day 2. It's sensory overload and as Brick mentioned, your kids can't do 95% of the stuff that looks cool.

That being said, Planet Hollywood is a decent location. Excalibur was a dump 15 years ago. NYNY does have some kids stuff...arcade, roller coaster. There are a few water parks and an adventure park that would probably be fun. But, just go to Disney at that point...

If you don't need to be on the strip you could consider the Red Rock. You have to rent a car but you can sight see easier.

When are you going? Keep in mind that it’s cold in Vegas this time of year and most pools are closed until Spring.

Dude, I said it was a dump. Excalibur and NYNY are probably the only 2 "kid friendly" places on the strip.

I like the NYNY location. They have a tower that is very close to the valet parking drop off. Costs a little more but not bad.

I have a large crew going June 9-13 to Circa. Hit me up if you have any interest in going. I am probably going to get a cabana for Friday and Saturday. Amazing pool and sports book. Rooms were reasonable, flights not so much. Remember- good guy; buys drinks.

Don't know what Circa charges to rent for a Cabana but there is an app that I used to book a Cabana when I was there. For a Party of 10 you just had to do guarantee the bar a minimum of a $1,000 $1,200 with the mandatory gratuity. For a Party of 20 it was $2,000. For 5 hrs too. Might not be a bad play for you and your group Denis.

Discotech is the name of the app and when you rent the Cabana neither you nor anyone in your group will have to pay the cover to enter.

20% down locks it in for you as I recall.

Exactly right ML. I am planning on a Cabana for Friday and Saturday. But given high season it is like $1,500.

my family and i went when my brother and i were kids back in the 90s. We stayed at the MGM and saw some shows there and at other hotels on the strip. MGM was nice. Im sure its had improvements since then. Saw a couple shows there, went to Caesers for some dinners and then at the Luxor for some like Medieval Times-esque tournament
