With the Holidaze coming up, there will be traditional foods served and made and whatnot. What foods that are steeped in Holiday tradition (not just the upcoming Holidays, but any) do you not like or find wildly overrated? On the flip side, is there any doctoring you do to make traditional foods better? For me; Pumpkin Pie sucks. I'd rather eat me dog's food. Corned beef and cabbage sucks. I like lasagna, but my wife's aunt is a "vegetarian" (she'll eat chicken and hot dogs ) so she makes a vegetable lasagna and a pea salad for xmas day that are quite horrid. I used to think green bean casserole sucked, but then about two years ago my wife made it with cream of chicken soup and sprinkled some shredded cheese on top along with the crispy onions, and it took the dish to another stratosphere. |

If you like traditional Irish food, here's a big pile of excrement with some leaves on it. |

I really can’t stand canned veggies and I’m sure every version I’ve had was made with canned beans. My family always did steamed green beans anytime we have them. |

I grew up on canned food, so canned beans with canned soup topped with canned onions is fine by me. |

A common traditional Ukrainian holiday dish is vinaigrette which is a beet salad. Simply boil beets, carrots, and potatoes and let it cool. Add pickles and that's the dish. There is no way to save that dish. I love varenyky and love saurkraut/cabbage. But I do not like cabbage varenyky. Keep it simple with potatoes, cheese or my favorite -- blueberries or cherries. |

Aside from the foul turkey, pumpkin pie & corned beef & cabbage, I've never been subjected to any of the foods you all are talking about. And haven't had the three I mentioned in over thirty years. But you all are lucky that you were never subjected to chitlins. In neighborhood stores the frozen 10 lb(?) buckets of them started popping up a couple of weeks ago. The sight of them makes me almost retch. |

All I know is i get to drink a lot of beer this Thanksgiving and I don't have to be around extended family. Best. Thanksgiving. Ever. I don't really care what we eat. |

Stuffing and cranberries. Used to love 'em until about 1977. Had the puking flu that Thanksgiving night and have never been able to eat either since. |

It's not a holiday if they aren't flaming someone like that. Often my mom doesn't realize how hard she's going and backs off when we laugh, my aunt never cares. |

In my own life experience, all the aunt shit-talking happens in Italian, or Greek, or Gaelic. But you know what it is, you don't need subtitles. |
