I can't relate getting to a point in life where you would think that's ok.

I don't really care about etiquette or not, but anybody who takes their shoes off during a flight is an absolute moron. I don't care of its a puddle jumper from O'Hare to South Bend, or a long haul flight from JFK to Charles DeGaulle. If something happens to that plane and you have to climb over wreckage or stand out on the tarmac after using the emergency slide, you want to be wearing proper footware.

The FAA should mandate passengers wearing footwear at all times.

First, I wouldn't call that punching. Second, she really doesn't seem to be invading his space at all. He is looking down at his tray table and appears to have plenty of room.

If he just started doing that without asking politely if she would not recline, than he is the dick.

Within reason. In the back of the plane, they're packed in like sardines. Last time I ended up back there, my knees were against the seat in front of me. If the person in front had tried to recline, they would have been unsuccessful. Had they pushed it, they would have been sorely disappointed

How does reclining the top of the seat 4" back affect the knees of the person behind them? Sorry, me not reclining because the guy behind me is tall is not an option. Buy the tickets with more leg room.
