Snoop went too far. The black unity talk is bullshit if you're calling a black woman a bitch or threatening to have people attack her.

He didn't call a black woman a bitch. He called a bitch a bitch. Important distinction.

What happened to not being identified solely by the color of one's skin?

Being black is not what defines us.

Try to keep up or just ask your boy to help you, my friend.

Gayle King is being criticized because MANY black people believe that she goes out of her way to criticize or be tough on black men and generally give white men somewhat of a pass. That's why Snoop and others are screaming "It be your own people" and "Harvey Weinstein".

My belief is that if you feel that strongly about black unity then there are other ways to express your frustrations other than calling a black woman a b itch or threatening to harm her. That shouldn't be a controversial take. Snoop and others are being bullies and hypocrites.

Being black defines me in some way whether I want it to or not. It always will and I've grown to accept that. There is no reason to pretend that isn't true.

I think the end game for everyone is to get to a point where we don't think "it always will."

If I call a white woman a bitch (it's been documented that I have), I don't think of it as me calling a white woman a bitch. It's just a woman. She isn't on my "team." Let's not have teams based on skin color.

Pipe dream, maybe, but it takes people from all backgrounds to agree to this approach in order to enact it.

Someone that organizes their own self or their people by skin color is setting their self up to be identified by their skin color. I've never seen a random white person and said "that person is my people because they're white."

What kind of cornball brother is familiar with the work of Gayle King?

Next we will be hearing Snoop's thoughts on Al Roker.

I'm surprised he threatened to roll up on her. Weak sauce.

I'm also sure his partner Martha heard far worse whilst in the federal pen and would say Gayle will be fine though.

The Lisa Leslie interview went viral, and that’s how Snoop saw it.

I'm in the camp that agrees that the discussion isn't necessary. It was fully covered and known to all during the man's life. There is no revelation providing something you didn't know.

but if you are a person who is making that argument, you better be prepared to stand in that camp when other achievers in history are getting the same public treatment.

If you are preaching unity with white women or dogs, calling them bitches and threatening to harm them defeats the purpose.

You are my guy, but I don't know if you are trolling, simply not putting much thought in your words or it is simple ignorance. America has organized us. It's disingenuous to act if that isn't true. In America you're simply an American and I'm described as an African-American or Black. It doesn't matter if you are Irish like Crest or Polish like GD, you are just an American. When America sees me, I'm a black man first. Not a man or a man who happens to be black. I had no say in that.

It is easy for you to make that statement because you live in a country where 2/3 of the people look like you. I live in the same country and slightly more than 10% of the people look like me. That's removing power and influence from the discussion. If you found yourself in a place where 90% of the people looked different than you, I imagine that you might nod your head when you saw 1 person that did. We are all tribalistic in some way.

That is the fundamentally flawed assumption of the white privilege theory.

It's Friday, I'm not up for a lengthy exchange, but "fundamentally flawed assumption" is a stretch.

I'm in the camp that believes that having the discussion NOW isn't necessary and it's mostly done to appease a loud, but minority segment of our population. I'm also in the camp who believes that Kobe raped the girl and was fortunate that it happened in 2004 instead of 2020.

I generally believe in being respectful of families and the dead immediately after they pass unless we're talking about a Hitler or some other predator. I wasn't kind to MJ when he passed, in hindsight, saying nothing was probably best. I know that I pissed off quite a few people.

I would absolutely love it. That is/was my biggest issue with the election of Trump. I naively believed that we were inching towards that place and even beat it into my kids heads. The 2016 election and the Trumpetism that followed was an absolute gut punch that brought me to a knee. It forced me to reevaluate some "truths" that I was holding onto.

You're gonna be surprised how many blacks are voting Trump, stop believing the propaganda, he's got no beef with blacks.

Yes, the splitting of the races started with the tea parties, and then Trump’s initial response to Charlottesville drove a wedge into race relations that is still having repercussions.

Tbh, my boring job has allowed me to very online, and I gotta say there is a lot more racism from the 20-30 year old African American crowd towards other races than I’ve ever really seen before. Maybe it was always there, but I think the last 4 years have pushed the hate out to the mainstream.

To be clear, Latinos and whites are still at the top of my racist rankings.
