I had no idea he went thru so much. I'm glad the NFL and NBA are offering counseling and financial advisors to their players. No matter how rich a friend of mine was, I don't even think it would ever cross my mind to open up a sealed envelope to add my name onto an insurance policy. That's pretty vile right there. |

Man that 2004-05 Bulls team was just turning the corner to competing in the East, and then the heart thing happened with Eddy. That sucked as a fan. |

He had a tendency to disappear in second halves. But the game before he had the issue he started dominating in the second half. He was fist pumping and strutting back down court after a strong finish at the rim, and I was ecstatic. I thought they were finally ready to roll. Then a heart and a Deng injury...toast. |

That was a fun try-hard group. Don't forget NOOO-CIIII-OOOO-NIIIII. The year after Stern really fucked the Bulls with the 1 year in College rule, otherwise Durant falls to the Bulls in 2006. |

The guy still really takes no responsibility for his actions. Everything was done to him. "I didn't know, I didn't know", even as you admit your wife was there telling you every step of the way what was happening. I'm not going to feel sorry for a guy who feels he was taken from his life's aspiration of being a stoned gamer 24/7. |

He knows he has made a lot of mistakes but wants it to still be portrayed that he was the victim of circumstance. Every kid would rather play video games instead of work. |

The problem is the adults that saw him as a cash register. He never loved basketball, you can't force a kid to love a sport. They tried to make him something he wasn't. |

Putting the details aside for the moment, this is a common problem: young atheletes unprepared for the real world making mad money with no idea how to be fiscally responsible. Makes even more sense if you come into this money and have no mentors to guide you, such as parents or trustworthy advisors. Allen Iverson has/had this problem, Shawn Kemp, Antoine Walker, and the list goes on. The most evil people in these kinds of stories are the predators who exploit the athlete's ignorance and inexperience for personal gain. |

I had a co-worker that hated Eddie, while I was banking on those Bulls teams to bring back the glory. And he just kept saying, “he lost to Schaumburg High School”. The guy thought Eddie sucked just because of that. |

The guy thought Eddie sucked just because of that. He was on to something. While he was here one constant critique was that he just wasn't motivated to work on his game, to be great, etc. This is all pre-tragedy. In the age of the declining center, this 6-11 250+ dude averaged 5 rebounds per game. Scott Skiles famously said the key to Eddy becoming better at rebounding was to simply jump. |

He had a lot of hangers on. One of my friends used to own a car wash in Highland Park and Curry's boys would come in with his fancy sports cars. Then they would go back and play video games at Eddy's house. I picture it being like the mostly empty house in Boiler Room. That's why it's so vile for dopes like bernstein and Phil Jackson to dismiss LeBron's guys as a "posse" or to intimate that he needs (((different))) advisors. It's racist as hell. Maverick Carter is a sharp motherfucker. Eddy's guys were not that. |

I'm fascinated by who you and others will and won't call racist. |

If LeBron had a friend from Shaker Heights named Shlomo Glickstein handling his business affairs, do you think bernstein would have been so critical? |
