I don't know if it would have been death or permanent alteration of consciousness but took enough LSD to trip for about 28 hours. Only the last 26 hours felt like every minute was about 40 days.

Sounds like a typical day at work

12/31/17: 10 minutes into playing hockey my defective heart valve closed up and I passed out in the middle of the ice. Apparently was out for about a minute and started seizing and foaming at the mouth before coming to and getting ambulanced to hospital. A month later I had a open heart surgery and a new valve put in.

When I was 4 years old my mom and I were at our neighbors house. They had an underground pool that started off pretty shallow and went out to a decent sized deep end. I was playing with a beach ball in the shallow end. The ball floated over to the deep end and I went after it. My mom and the neighbor lady had been visiting and were not paying close attention....at some point the neighbor lady saw me under the water and got me. I was scared to death of water for a couple years.

Young Furious once fell through the ice on the Rock River. It wasn't my time.

I had a seizure when I was about two, and it was so bad that the firemen didn't even do any readings or anything. They saw me lying there, wrapped me up in a blanket, and ran me out to the ambulance, and took off for Christ Hospital. I recovered, obviously.

The Nik Wallenda thread had me thinking...due to Rick's joke comment about flying over the Grand Canyon. I don't think we're a bunch of risk takers here, but who knows? Mine was when I told leash that his dad was less of a Cubs fan than I am.

I had a seizure when I was about two, and it was so bad that the firemen didn't even do any readings or anything. They saw me lying there, wrapped me up in a blanket, and ran me out to the ambulance, and took off for Christ Hospital. I recovered, obviously. In 2005, I was returning from Thanksgiving break driving on I-90 heading back to Bozeman from Billings Airport. As I was going over the Bozeman pass, the weather deteriorated pretty quickly. I was driving a 1998 Contour with no snow chains or anything. As I was driving down a hill, I noticed I started to gain speed so I tapped my brakes every so gently, and started sliding sideways. To the right, a steep dropoff of at least 200'. To the left, just the median of the interstate. Of course I was sliding right. I grabbed my coat, phone, took my seatbelt off and had my hand on the door handle ready to bail if needed. Fortunately after sliding maybe 100 yards or so, I got traction again and continued the rest of my journey without incident. 2005.

I locked myself in a refrigerator when I was a yute. It was an old-style one with a latch that my parents kept behind the bar in our family room. I am told they had taken the shelves out so that they could store a large watermelon inside. Apparently it was perceived as a perfect hiding spot by an idiot kid. Fortunately my brother was watching TV nearby and heard my muffled cries.

I slipped on a fairly steep hillside trail in Vermont on a wet tree root. I went straight back and fell down hard enough to cut my hand open. If I had fallen to the side I was looking at a 30 foot roll down with trees and other things in the way that would have not be very safe to hit. I may not have died but I certainly wouldn't have been leaving without some sort of medical assistance at the scene. This is also why I dislike Bernie Sanders.

Crashed on a bike in door county in 1987 or so. Launched into traffic and the car coming opposite wY stoped about a foot from running over my head. My dad was the driver. Can’t even imagine.

1. Degenerative Aortic valve got to the point where it had had it and I almost passed out while pulling into my driveway. 5 minutes earlier and I would have been on 355. Bedrest for three weeks before surgery. Not as bad as shakes, as I never lost consciousness. 2. A year later, got off a plane and had a blood clot in my lung. Drove to the hospital because I thought my valve had failed and I wanted my cardiologist and cardiac surgeon if it was the case. That's enough for a while.

When I was 4 years old my mom and I were at our neighbors house. They had an underground pool that started off pretty shallow and went out to a decent sized deep end. I was playing with a beach ball in the shallow end. The ball floated over to the deep end and I went after it. My mom and the neighbor lady had been visiting and were not paying close attention....at some point the neighbor lady saw me under the water and got me. I was scared to death of water for a couple years.

Hitting the side of a car rear quarter panel with my face going 40-50 MPH on a west 63rd street. Dumb kid pulled out of side street right in front of me. I woke up 3 days later.

Maybe another thread, airplane nitwittery is due. Certainly not life threatening but a few weeks ago about 10 minutes after takeoff the pilot gets on the intercom and says... "Uh... just to let you folks know we have what we suspect is an error on our uh...master fuel quantity gauge... uh... its reading 0 pounds of fuel on the plane but uh.... we suspect that is a false reading since our uh.... engines are still turning. If we need to make an emergency landing uh... follow all instructions from your flight attendants and uh... basically we expect no problems."

Interestingly a few years later I tried salvia and scared me more than anything. You go from normal to Andromeda Galaxy in less than 3 seconds... Then your personality fragments into 10 parts that you can hold in your hands and play with. Your dad curses you out because your body turned into a block of cheese. The next day you wake up wondering why you're wearing a swimming pool but you know it has nothing to do with paper straws. Then it hits you. You're sober again. On the floor. You have bruises all over your arms. Your friends are laughing so hard. You look at the clock and it's been about 4 minutes since you took the hit. Felt like days. Still terrifying just thinking about it.

12 or 13 years old, we used to walk to the Dolton theater to see all the Rated R movies. It was surrounded by trains and they were always slow moving. We used to wait for a tanker, and run under them to get to the other side, tankers had the highest clearance. I tripped on the last track and fell onto the rocks. If i had tripped over the first track, i would have landed right in the path of the wheels and probably been dead.

If it was a febrile seizure (super high fever), which is not that uncommon, wrapping you in a blanket would have been the worst thing they could do.

While not nearly as scary as that, I've had two times when a plane I was on had to abort a landing about 500 feet from the ground because something was in the way on the runway. It's a pretty strange feeling of a slow descent of a normal landing to 1 second later the engines going full blast and you suddenly bottom out and then go up like you are taking off again. The pilot then explained over the loud speaker by basically saying that some idiot private pilot was taking his time crossing the runway that we were to use.
