My 2 new yellow lab puppies are supposed to be born this week. If all goes well and the litter is big enough, we'll be getting two boys. If not big enough, we'll be waiting till the next litter. I hit the jackpot naming my last dog. Back then i was a big soccer fan and liked Barcelona. Started reading about a prodigy 17 year old they had coming up who was going to be an all time great. Caught a few clips of him and decided to name my dog after him. Of course I'm talking about Lionel Messi and my dog Lionel. People loved the name. It was unique and fit him perfectly. And the guy I used as inspiration turned out to be pretty damn good.

So I'm feeling some pressure with these dogs. I want to stick with the system of naming at least one of the dogs after a sports athlete I like. First dog is easy, my favorite athlete these days is Rayford Trae Young. So we've decided to lock in Rayford as one of the dog names. It's pretty unique and works for a dog in that you can shorten it to Ray or Ray Ray which is key cause that's what I'll end up calling him most often. Similar to how I used to call Lionel either Li or Li Li.

The other dog is where the debates are starting. Here are the options so far....

Luka (we're both big Doncic fans and Luka works well as a god name)
Noodles (named after Robert DiNero's jewish gangster in Once Upon a Time in America)
Mister Lahey

I just thought of going with Mister Lahey a couple days ago and gotta say it's really growing on me. You can't get more unique than that. Plus its based off one of the best characters in TV history and the actor just died a couple years ago. Only issue is how do you shorten it to cal the dog? There's no easy nickname for Mr. Lahey that rolls off the tongue. I guess you can call him Jim or Jimmy but that's getting a little too deep into the reference. Also I want the dog's nickname to be short for the full name so it sounds the same and doesn't confuse the dog.

Wife is pushing hard for Luka.

could also use some older sports athletes I loved back in the day. Maybe Barry for Barry Sanders?

Strom. Rayford and Strom sounds like a semi-reputable law firm.

Luka is good and would be distinct from Ray or Trae as to not cause confusion to the dogs (I would not go with Luka if the other one was Noodles).

Naming your puppy after Trae Young is perfect since you really want them to piss/shit outside but they are always missing. Labs also provide no defense against home intruders.

I don't think you can go wrong with Luka or Noodles. I'm not feeling Mr. Lahey.

Blago.

Noodles sucks, but I like Luka.

I figured Lionel was on account of Lionel from Good Times.

Don't cull names for your pets from current events.

Don't name your pets after alcohol.

They're not my dogs. And I figured wtf since their owners have a strange stripper pole in their bedroom.
