Post subject:  What does the USA stand for?

Strength and resilience against fear? No, the USA is in a total panic.
Commitment to principles of liberty? No, the USA has sacrificed so many fundamental rights, like freedom of movement and assembly, in the name of a false sense of security.
Spirit of success and a "can-do" attitude? No, the American population is slovenly and obese physically and at its core greedy, shallow and materialistic. Entitlement runs rampant.
A beacon of light against tyranny around the world? No, the USA grovels before its Chinese masters. The American president and his opposition are united in their admiration of Communist China.
A place of science, understand and innovation? To an extent, but it serves no end of broader humanitarian goodwill. Americans aren't working on the moon landing or the automobile anymore. Just new ways to use technology to enforce shallow materialism or surveillance. Bad faith "innovation" that indulges shallow materialism instead of goodness and virtue.

Everyone on this board is an American, so I ask you...what does your country stand for? Does it stand for anything at all anymore?

Insane overreactions and massive hyperbole.

It isn't just the ones who want the shut downs but also to those who act like the citizens have no rights because you can't get a haircut and eat in a restaurant and instead have to do takeout.

This tactic of minimizing the right to congregate being stripped as "not being able to get a haircut" is an infuriating bad faith tactic of leftists who again, see China not as an adversary but as a model.

Does the USA stand for family and faith? No, the church is reviled. Replaced by the maw of entertainment consumerism. Children are castrated as young as nine in the name of sexuality, everything about the family unit is replaced with fantasy escapism and sexual objectification.

This is a poor argument even by your standards. What exactly do you feel has been my insane overreaction and massive hyperbole. You have a post that basically mirrors exactly what I've been saying since May 1 which is the lockdowns were a good idea at the time but it's time to open back up all but the largest public gatherings.

I get the feeling you are just looking for someone to complain about.

I read one heartening thing over the last few days. Supposedly two-thirds of all Americans are against any kind of phone tracking to assist in the control of this virus. We'll see what percentage of them stand strong when government turns the screws, though. It's probably easier for most to just take the app so they can buy Lunchables and Diet Coke.

Lori Lightfoot has threatened me with jail if I invite anyone over to my house, let alone fifty people.

Togetherness and unity? No, racial hatred permeates every corner of society. Political divisions are so ingrained they tear families apart. Even the sexes are at war with each other.

Even if they have, they are still vastly superior to the new Church of Marvel/Star Wars/whatever else that poisons and infantilizes people.

She can say what she wants. There is no chance any conviction for that will stand up to the courts. When I think of rights being stripped I don't think of mayors saying things they can't really enforce.

All you have to do is endure being arrested and detained at Cook County jail until you can get bailed or the charges dropped! See, no big deal. Your rights aren't infringed!

Chicago police issued more than 4,600 orders for groups to disperse and arrested 17 people in April while enforcing Illinois' stay-at-home order amid the coronavirus pandemic, the department said Friday.

Officers issued a total of 4,632 dispersal orders from April 1 through April 29, CPD said in a statement. Officers also wrote six citations - which carry a fine of up to $500 - to individuals "who deliberately disobeyed the order," authorities said.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Friday that police will issue citations and possibly arrest any resident who fails to follow stay-at-home orders aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19.

"We will shut you down, we will cite you, and if we need to, we will arrest you and we will take you to jail," she said Saturday during a press conference.

How many of those people were arrested on private property? I honestly don't know the answer to that but I doubt they were knocking down doors to arrest people who had friends over as JORR said.

"See, your rights aren't being eroded! You can gather with a few people on private property!"

Not to mention Lightfoot said Lunchrooms and breakrooms are GONE when people return to work, which is illegal according to IL state law.
