This is a degree of callousness and just sheer contempt that really hits home. |

Just the fact that they used the term "forever home" which is associated with dog adoption is brutal. And I know we have a lot of dog guys here and that pets are family members. Hell, my mom had a cat and when he died I think she was more upset than if it had been me. But the use of that term in this context, just fucking horrible. |

His medical problems outweighed the amount of clicks he generated. Quit trying to make it personal like some burrito. |

I saw the story and didn't know how to react. At first I thought they just had to put him in a group home and I felt bad for the parents. Then I realized that, no, they just didn't want to deal with it and gave the kid up. Sickening. |

I wouldn't give those fucks a rental car. |

You can't adopt a child and just decide it's not a good fit. Such a thing undermines the entire concept of adoption which is that it is equal to having children biologically. |

Let's also acknowledge the fact that they used him as a prop, something that will follow him for the rest of his life. Imagine having no control of your social media footprint because some people rented you for a few years in your youth. |

Quote: Huxley had “more special needs that we weren’t aware of and that we were not told.” Boo-fucking-hoo. Kids don't come with a return policy. That's one of the dumbest statements I've ever seen. |

Maybe if they actually spent some time with the child they could be amazed by his progress. Those are some of the greatest days. But, screw them, they don't deserve those great days anyway. |

This makes me very angry but the sad truth is that this is the best thing that could happen to Huxley at this time. The tragedy is he lost 3 years of development, a very important stage of development, that he won't really be able to make up for many years if at all. |

Dr. Kenneth Noisewater wrote: Maybe if they actually spent some time with the child they could be amazed by his progress. Those are some of the greatest days. But, screw them, they don't deserve those great days anyway. Through work I have have had great experiences with the parents/guardians and their kids, but one of the few things that gives me pause is seeing kids and thinking “man, if only their parents/guardians knew what they were doing, they would be so much better off.” Sometimes it’s anger because (imo) they didn’t care enough and sometimes it’s sadness because no one ever helped them find the resources and support that was available for them and the kid. Now that’s hardly specific to the special needs population, but the outcomes are usually more pronounced. |
