My DL expired 10 days ago. I figure I can't put this off forever so I'm gonna attempt get my license renewed today. But, as a personal rule I won't wait in any lines longer than 10 minutes.

Over/under on how many aborted trips I take to the DMV and how late into 2020 I end up getting a valid DL?

My parents spent five hours in line at the Bridgeview location a few weeks ago. Got there at 730 and left a little after 1230.

I'm gonna do a drive by at the one in Deerfield since it's close to my office. If it's busy I'm just gonna go eat lunch instead. Good taco place in the same strip mall.

What's Cookers?

There's some good options in that area. Taco Vida, Jimmy Thai, Portillo's, Once Upon A Grill. Also got a new bbq place, but it's one of those suburban chain ones and I'm sure it sucks.

oh yea, been there forever. Never been though cause we got Dear Franks in town and also Josh's in Northbrook (owned by a high school friend). Portillo's being right there is probably not good news for Cookers not to mention those other hot dog places as well.

Back in the day when I worked down the street from there at Kraft, a group of us would go to Cookers for lunch. As our one friend described it perfectly....

It's a hot dog joint run by some crabby old guy that probably retired a bit early. Good food, but the past part is the kid that works there. It's gotta be the owner's son. My theory is Dad sent him away to school and he bombed out, so is being punished by working at the hot dog stand. Not only that....he's not allowed to take orders or cook anything. His sole job is completely limited to handing out the soda cups for each order

Dude wasn't lying at all....it was EXACTLY like that. Kid just looked defeated and miserable while working there.

Me full to my eyebrows with my white privilege: Is that your clever way of telling me my DL expired?
Cop a little annoyed he didn't get to complete his clever dialogue: Yes
Me: Have you seen the lines at the DMV these day?
Cop: Oh wait, you get a 3 month grace period anyway so you're good.



So I got till October or else I'm gonna have to start using my weed card to get in to buildings.
