Ever been to the French Colonial District in SW IL??

Apparently some old district where Fench settlers lived.

Apparently they speak an old-ass dialect of French too. Or used to anyway.

Anybody been down there? Anything interesting? Old-ass houses?

Anybody speaking French?

Maybe some of our Missouri posters have crossed the river to check this shit out??

The thing to see is Ste. Genevieve in Missouri. You can cross to Kaskaskia just south in St. Mary. There are a few things to see in Kaskasia. There's Fort de Chartres (mostly rebuilt with a couple of original columns), Prairie du Rocher is a cool little place (the cemetery is a must-see with the steel crosses), the Pierre Mendard home was worth visiting once. Maeystown is just north (German, but a great little spot).

Yeah, some interesting things for a day or two.

It's not very nice. It is not worth the trip but go if you are near.
