Ever been to the French Colonial District in SW IL?? Apparently some old district where Fench settlers lived. Apparently they speak an old-ass dialect of French too. Or used to anyway. Anybody been down there? Anything interesting? Old-ass houses? Anybody speaking French? Maybe some of our Missouri posters have crossed the river to check this shit out?? |

The thing to see is Ste. Genevieve in Missouri. You can cross to Kaskaskia just south in St. Mary. There are a few things to see in Kaskasia. There's Fort de Chartres (mostly rebuilt with a couple of original columns), Prairie du Rocher is a cool little place (the cemetery is a must-see with the steel crosses), the Pierre Mendard home was worth visiting once. Maeystown is just north (German, but a great little spot). Yeah, some interesting things for a day or two. |
