Whenever I'm out of the house I will always have on me...

2 small rechargeable flashlights.
A decent knife.
My wallet. Always at least $50 in cash, and a couple different credit cards.
A silver dollar (a lucky charm).
A Leatherman (wave model)
A 1911. Unless I'm at work.
A spare magazine. Unless I'm at work.
My cell.
A watch.
Wedding ring.

Other than that not much. I don't really wear jewelry. I've got that watch which when new was pretty sweet but it's 14 years old now and beat up pretty good. Still works though and keeps good time.

I cant tell you how much use I get out of that Leatherman. I bet I use it 8 or 9 times a day at work and when I'm not working at least 2 or 3 times. Crazy how useful that thing is. I love it. I'd be lost without it.

What do you carry? I've heard jorr doesn't leave his house without at least 8 50 dollar bills and gypsy tears in a small vial around his neck.

A spare magazine? How many gun fights do you expect?

None with any luck. But I'd rather not get killed for lack of shooting back.

On farm- phone, AM/FM pocket transistor radio with earbuds, maybe a 22LR revolver

off farm- phone, wallet

I leave the keys in all my vehicles and the house unlocked at all times, and have only worn a wedding ring maybe 20 times total.

I quit carrying a weapon- too much hassle being properly safe about it when I go out.

Has that 22 come in handy on the farm?
I was working clean up at a buddy's rance out in Whiteside County when just before sunset I got jumped by a couple coyotes. They were not scared, just slowly walking toward me across the beans. I put one round between then and they scattered. My guy was PISSED I didn't kill them because they been eating his rabbits and turkey chicks.

Small flashlight, pocket knife, lighter, wallet, credit cards & money, keys, hand sanitizer, cell phone, charger, water bottle, ear buds, pen and paper, safety pins, feminine hygiene products, lipstick, mascara, hair tie, sunglasses, sometimes napkins, sometimes gum/candy. Still too fat for my wedding ring.

I have a case of water, blanket, hat, gloves, corkscrew, and chef knife set in the car. Also toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, and deodorant.

I'm thinking about going for cc even if I never carry it.

It's really not. The silver dollar takes up no space. The ring, wallet, watch and cell seems pretty average. The flashlights are tiny little streamlines, but really bright. Maybe the size of a AA battery and a half each. I need em for work but it turns out they're excellent self defense tools. I carry the knife because it's about all I can get away with at work. Used to be a Buck 110 but I've changed to something... more contemporary.
I guess it's a lot. But I've needed each of those items (I guess with the exception of the silver dollar and ring) on many occasions.

Wallet, keys (Which contain the keys to 3 vehicles and a couple out buildings), phone. I stopped wearing my wedding ring recently as I was constantly taking it off while working and it wasn't worth the risk of loosing it or my finger if I kept it on. Probably could get one of those silicone bands or something but I'm not a fan.

Trucks and tractors have the utility knives or leatherman type too and a random collection of wrenches, sockets and such. I rarely have a gun with me but in a few fields I have started carrying if I'm exercising the dogs as I don't want to have to deal with coyotes with my smaller dog who isn't any smaller than the average yote but I'm afraid her prey drive might get her in trouble. In general I'm not afraid that a 40 pound canine is going to cause me any trouble as they are pretty damn timid once they figure out what you are usually.

Good stuff in the car. I'd recommend adding some cheapo chemical hand warmers and a glass break device. My truck (my personal vehicles not he work truck) is always outfit with a first aid kit (you can buy them for like 15 bucks at Walgreens. I swap them out once a year), and a ac/dc inflater. I have a toolbox with basic tools, hammer, screwdrivers, some sockets and a small hacksaw.

Sounds like you’re the demo for the Tactical Backpack and/or purse I’m trying to invent.

I call it TacBack. I’ll have a sick infomercial starting Kris Tanto Paronto. I just need to find a large inventory of retired JanSports to rebrand.

You ever come across a rabid one or one that's all mangy and acting aggressive? I myself have not but my buddy tells me it happens. He used to carry around a 38 wheel gun in his belt around the farm. Thing looked ike it was never cleaned. I wasn't confident it would fire if necessary.

It's OK. I know you're teasing me but I ain't mad.
Truthfully, I don't think anyone looking at me would notice I even have any of that shit.

Mange is about all I've seen. Took it out with a .38 wheel gun but that wasn't because it was aggro, it was because it was during one of those polar vortex things and I wasn't going to let it suffer. Have pictures somewhere around here of the thing, it wasn't going to survive -20 or the aftermath of that kind of frostbite. I'm getting tired of them right now, they have been running and yipping every night and it gets the dogs worked up. Might have to sit out with a thermal and ask them to bother a different farm.

There is a first aid kit in the car. I should see what's in it. I have a glass breaker hammer thing.

Coyotes here seem less timid than I would think. I ran into 2 on walks with my dog she was super excited to see one and avoided the other one. It was odd.

There is a fox in our neighborhood with mange. I feel sad for it. They are so pretty and I hate to think of something in pain.

It is because people don't shoot them on sight like they do out here. They get awful nervous when that starts happening. That said there are several times when Im working a field that a couple will come out and hunt the ground I've worked up or pick through the windrows of hay for any casualties. I can generally get the tractor to within 25 yards and have thought of carrying a ranch rifle of some sort but really.. I'm not super keen on shooting them.

None with any luck. But I'd rather not get killed for lack of shooting back.

Shoot better with the first one.

It’s not a fully formed idea yet.

Current thinking is that you just ask your assailant to ‘hold on a second.’

Yep, mostly muskrats and woodchucks, a possum or two. Most stuff I'll let live if it is not digging holes in my field or buildings. Stay in the woods like the coyotes, deer, etc. and we're cool. Come inside and make a mess of everything like them damn 'coons, and you'll eat lead.

I carry a Glock 20 around, which for a while was badass but now is just a chore. Still, the bears are restless.
