I'm shopping. Neiman Marcus has chicken broth for sale for $30 32 oz. Who would pay roughly $40 for chicken broth? WTF?

Have you seen the obscene Christmas catalogue they put out each year?

They've been obscene since the eighties. Profane in the excess.

Honestly I've seen people get shot and killed and that catalog made even less sense.

I'm shocked Neiman Marcus is still open.

Are they next to Hammacher Schlemmer?

Sharper Image.

Brookstone. Us hurricane survivors lived off the stuff they sold there for days.

When I was a young former farmboy professional, still amazed that I had a job that didn't pay by the hour, I thought I was the coolest Uncle in the world when I was buying my nieces presents from FAO Schwartz.

We got an electric tea kettle from Sharper Image for a wedding gift. It's one of our favorite things, fucking awesome.

I remember feeling likewise when I spent way too much on my nieces. Reminded me of my maternal aunts doing likewise for me as a yout.

I doubt that. You think highly of yourself. When smack thought we were married you totally thought you could do MUCH better.

It's fun to spoil little ones at Christmas. They will remember it. I love when I get the it gift for my cousins' kids. I'm like yes! nailed it! I'm so great!!!!

I have a silver pitcher from 1856 that was given to me at my wedding by a descendant of the family that "owned" my father's family before the civil war.

His mother had a decidedly different reaction.

Best shitters in the mall. Worth a walk through just to drop an opulent deuce

And how do you feel about it?

As a white cisgender female that I don't think or know of that has any ties to slavery that's a pretty cool thing to have. I don't know the family obviously but that might have been a gift given from a good place. Or not, I have no idea.

Was the family at your wedding or did they send a gift? How did that even work?

Please.

I was upset that he didn't remember the defense I was putting on him at the pickup BB game we'd played a few months before.

An unironic use of ‘cis’ always puzzles me.

It’s weird to understand becoming old in real time. And I’m mid 30s. I feel like my hypothetical grandkids will use that in normal conversation and I’ll go full Archie Bunker on them.

You are not younger than me. You are at least dolphin/Reader/Noisy/Reason's age.

The "cousin" who gave it to me was earnest and from a good place. And wanted me to join the family firms in either Iowa or Montgomery Alabama. I sometimes wonder.

But I couldn't get over seeing the slave ship records of my fifth great grandfather landing in the Carolinas in the 1790s. Or his family's reaction to his and my father's friendship.

You looked absolutely appalled. It's okay, I get it, my husband gets the same look but we are actually married.

I still don't know what it means. But I'm old.
