Nearly a tripling of cost per therm. Also, we used a bit more gas as it was much cooler this November so far than last November. Our home is fairly small and I only need a 60k btu furnace (95%) and we've only got a 40g water heater so we're talking less than $100 bucks. But holy hell theres gonna be some pissed off consumers this month and wait til February comes and January bills are due. |

I have a very large gas fireplace that adds nothing but ambiance that I don’t think I’ll turn on all winter. It’s 50k BTUs of burning money… |

Need a ruling from someone. |

darko- i don't know what the hvac guys make in the union up here, but i do know electricians are around $42/hr. pretty sure illinois theyre mid 50's, but cost of living is better up here. problem is the unions suck up here... and a guy with your experience is in extremely high demand for the private sector, mainly because theres so many idiots. you could probably pull $100k/yr without much overtime if any, if you find the right shop. the union rate has a better benefits of course, but also spottier work and youre at the mercy of whatever the hall says. i liked the unions in illinois, i fucking hate them up here. you could also go on your own up here. theres not a lot of government oversight or fees to run a business, and people crave trustworthy contacts. between the outskirts of milwaukee and madison, there is a ton of small towns that are filled with small shops run by drunks. if you show up half sober and give them honest service, you will have very loyal customers. lots of rich fucks with summer cabins that have nothing but problems because their places freeze every year too. |

It’s 50k BTUs of burning money… my apartment has one of those too, but it does have a blower into the living room... so it really doesn't raise the bill because the furnace stops running when it's on. |

start on indeed and linkedin then. make your resume detailed and clear, and post it. you will get recruiters flooding your phone. they will find you a shop that needs a fully experienced guy, and willing to pay $40+/hr for it, no question. You will also get a $3k-5k sign on bonus to move too, theyre that hungry right now. once you work for a year or two and accumulate contacts, i really don't think you would have any trouble on your own. if i was still willing to do electrical, i would definitely be doing it alone. i just landed a 6 figure job and i dont even touch tools, and i oversee robotic automation projects. pulling rope and wigging light switches is not exciting right now lol. |

See, I disagree. #2 and #3 paint you as such a baller that you can purchase or build a home with a fireplace that is completely frivolous. You aren’t forgoing using the fireplace because you can’t afford to light it, but more likely that your place is so big that you forget you even have the fireplace. Please revisit. Thanks in advance. |

Rick will be along shortly to say it’s not Joe Biden’s fault and ask how much BTU’s should cost anyway . |
