Got my blood tests back and I'm pre-diabetic according to the doctor. I've lived on the mainland since the past year because of Covid and I think that's been my downfall. I am not as exposed to these dangerous foods like burgers, fried foods, Twix, and chocolate ice creams like I have been here. And I use to be pretty physically active on the islands whereas in the past year, I've just been very sedentary. It's nobody else's fault but mine. Doc says to exercise more and change diet. So far no medicine which is good because I wouldn't take it anyway. Doc is wanting me to see a dietician. whatever that is. But I guess it's good they caught it early. But it sort of scared the shit out of me. I've calmed down now. Any advice from any of you that have been thru this? |

My mom was on the border of diabetic for over a decade starting in her late 60s, never needed medicine. 1. Buy yourself a glucose monitor and supplies. No need to get something expensive with all sorts of bells and whistles. Walmart's house brand Relyon is fine for your needs. 2. Cut way back on bread when you eat out. Many times it has more sugar in it than the rest of your meal. 3. Try to lose 5-6 pounds in the next three months. 4. Make sure you get a follow-up A1C blood test in three months. |

If you can train your body to be constantly diarrheal, you can eat whatever you want. |

If you Google "pre-diabetic" apparently in can be reversed. That's good news! I've lost 20+ lbs since early December cutting out all junk food, eating small or even tiny healthy meals, watching calories & sodium intake, regular walks. Don't eat much fast food any more. If I do it's strictly a place offering a healthy item they have. With closely monitoring their nutrition information online. There are a lot of tasty healthy food choices once you get into it and investigate Good luck! You can do it! |

i got put on some diuretic for fluid retention in my legs when i was at my heaviest. simple things like watching what you eat, more activity - walks are surprisingly effective and low intensity, drink more water throughout the day, watch the new obi wan series, and probably cut back on unnecessary sugars and salt intake. |

Just got finished with a team of asshole doctors. (Is there any other kind? ) Aside from cutting 45 lbs down to 195 I have been told about a potential health issue. Fuck I hate doctors. Edit: I have very, very low blood sugar (I know Button 48) |

Hoping it works. Yup, a dietician is just gonna tell you to watch carbs and eat more veggies, drink more water, exercise, etc. This gives you a shot to make some lifestyle changes to mitigate things, see tons of people that will have the same lab results as they get a bit older. Just don't want it to get to full blown diabetes because that brings all kinds of issues. |

I was just in the hospital for five days. Shitty doctors aside, the only channel I could get perfectly clearly was... FoxNews. Talk about a nightmare. And while colonoscopies aren't bad, the Go Light crap made life miserable for well over 36 hours. My stomach still sounds like a water cooler. Ugh. |

Like maybe a mile in total. Ate a banana for breakfast. usually I dont eat breakfast. Now just had a salad for lunch. I will be starving I guess. Dinner I will eat some chicken - maybe like 2 chicken legs baked. I really don t know how I will manage w/ this new way of eating. I think the exercise is going to help a lot. And I'll cut out the junk food and chocolates. But can I eat fish, chicken, meat in moderation? Or just cut out meat too? Regular Reader wrote: I was just in the hospital for five days. Doctors scare me. Not because of the care but too many are trying to scam you for a buck. Nurses too. I posted earlier this year I had to go to the ER for a foot injury and the doc/nurse wanted me to take an EKG. I said fuck no, for my toe an EKG? God damn scammers. I'm sure they take advantage of countless people who put their entire trust in doctors/nurses no questions asked. |
