You Chicago folk can take your soda vs. pop discussion and STICK IT!!!

Is it a crick or a creek?

Or do some of you uncultured heathens consider it a stream with your fancy $20 words?

"Crick" sounds like a hallmark of old-fashioned Utah English, like reading the "Buck 'a Marmon."

SPOILER ALERT -

The correct answer is crick.

If you don’t want to live in a world where crick is a word, I don’t know what life means anymore.

Full list of the original, UW-Milwaukee survey, which has since migrated to Harvard or Cambridge? Not sure:

Dunno if this is a different version, looks like a different set of questions/data:

I voted crick Doc in memory of my MIL who spent most of her life on a farm.

For most of my life i had thought a crick was a mini-creek. Like something you could jump over.

We had a crick down our back dirt road. If I were more Mark Twain-ish, I'd have spent Summer evenings there and wrote about my adventures.

I went back there maybe twice in my life. If I had a do-over, I'd have taken more advantage of it.

Most of our fences were electrified.

You only take a wet brush to those once.

CFMB was one bad Dr. Ken decision away from never being here. Would you want to live in a world without Dr. Ken?

Can I mull it over down by the crick and get back to you?

Yes.

But you must be barefooted. Shoes are not allowed near a crick-type setting.

Hillbilly? I didn't think Illinois people were considered hillbillies.

I know Bernstein considers everyone outside his area code as the Hardcore American South.

I just thought everybody else considered non-Chicagoans "downstate" - even if they were from Rockford.

I played Lick Crick golf course in Peoria a few times. We then had dinner for lunch, and later had supper for dinner.

My grandfather, being a rural boy at heart , was a crick and Warshington guy. My dad will occasionally say crick. I’m a creek person but will use crick when talking of named local creeks if I’m speaking with locals. So if doc and I were hanging out at the Captain Swift covered bridge sipping Sarsaparilla I’d refer to the body of water as Bureau Crick. Now you may think this sounds odd… it does sound odd.

I sometimes call the refrigerator an "icebox", a habit I picked up from my grandmother. My wife finds it annoying for some reason.
