I've had the same cell phone number for over 10 years, but the person who had the number before me continue to give out my number as her contact number. At first it was dudes calling in the middle of the night and cussing me out for answering, "Their girls phone", then there were occasional calls, but recently the activity has ticked up and I am getting texts several times a day, got calls from the Georgia DNC making sure the woman voted, but finally got a call from a business where they gave me her full name and most recent address. Then pulled it up and found out she was in fact giving my phone number as her contact number.

Wondering if anyone knows what the best course of action is, talked to the police department in Marietta, GA where the woman lists her address and they directed me to start locally, the local PD says I have to come in and fill out an Identity Theft report which I am almost sure will do nothing. Is there some other type of legal action I can pursue? Find it odd that she continues to use the number after 10 years, have not seen any other fraudulent activity, but it seems very strange.

Have thought about making a trip there and knocking on her door.

Is it possible that she is giving the number in instances where she is just filling out a form and doesn't want to receive a call so she just lists her old number? I recently filled out a magazine subscription in which they required my number. I listed my home number for a house I lived in 20 years ago.

She is still listing it on her contacts that appear when you google search her, also got calls from the Georgia DNC asking if she needed a ride to vote, that would seem to be a contact she wanted to hear from, strangely the DNC rep on the phone got a bit rattled when I asked to talk to a supervisor about potential voter fraud and quickly ended the call.

i get occasional DNC requests for donations and my Walgreens savings always pulls up the guy that used to have this number. I once got a text congratulating "me" on being accepted to DePaul from Grandma. I let grandma know i had decided to spend that time travelling and no longer planned to attend law school.

i regularly got a call from a very nasally voice about a guy being late to work or just not showing up. it was over the course of 3 or 4 months and it was 2-3 times a week. I never answered them because I never answer my phone. and they'd leave vm's every time. it was pretty hilarious as teh frustration grew and grew and grew.

fast forward a year. I meet a guy at a storage unit to buy a hitch receiver for my silverado that I contact off of craigslist. the guy gets out of his car and starts talking and i'm like why is this guys voice so familiar. there is another guy with him. So we exchange goods and cash and I finally stop and go. Do you work for nickle aluminum and used to have a guy you'd have to call all the time about bein glate? and he said, I do regularly but let me tell you the reason i brought my brother is because I thought I recognized your cell number and was a bit worried that it was him.

we had a good chuckle.

Have tracked the person down, have full name, birth date, last several addresses. She appears quite shifty and gives out my number and the number of the last call centers she worked at as contact numbers, moves frequently from job to job.

Highly doubt the local police will do anything, so pondering next steps.

Counterinsurgency. Sign her up for every political organization you can think of. Soon, she'll be on every mailing list of every fringe wackadoo organization in America.

Agree with Darkside and more(get her phone number). Have fun with it. Could be a great hobby in the making.
