Better or worse than bringing a child to a drag show?

Parents spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars for their children to win dollar store prizes. Child services should step in.

Never have or will understand the sexualization of children, this type of thing is highly offensive to most parents, and as with many things today the pageant types are made to seem way more numerous than they actually are, in reality it is an incredibly small portion of the population that abuses children in this manner.

My wife's cousin has two little girls that do this type of thing and I believe they do some kind of dancing with it as well. Very creepy.

I have a couple of people I went to high school with that got married and their daughter is in a cheerleading travel club. Another cultish, really creepy activity in my opinion. Every other weekend they are flying across the country to compete for yet another "national championship". No doubt the kids are athletic and will probably get to cheer in college or something but I just don't understand it.

I don't feel sorry for the kids who participate. I feel sorry for the kids that are too ugly to participate. I know they'll eventually learn how ugly they are but I don't know if 6 years old is the right time to let them know they will live a life of ugliness.

Also this. One of the guys I bowl with has a daughter that does this, along with high school cheer. They were over at our house Memorial Day weekend talking about the end of her freshman year. My buddy's wife is talking about how daughter made cheer next year even though she was failing algebra...but that's okay because she can cheer

Of course, she is also the one pushing her daughter to find ways to be a tik tok influencer, so, yeah.

I don't know why more boys don't get in on that scam of being a male cheerleader. Its basically a license for action every single practice and show

Yeah, I think he's hit a point where he just lets them go on with whatever they want and he goes out...it's...something to watch.

Have a friend that is a pharmacist, she told us the story about getting cut from the basketball team when she was very young and how it made her quickly realize she needed to focus on school, of course she is incredibly intelligent and that type of self awareness is rare, but she makes three to four times more than most of the girls that made the basketball team.

Entering kids into these type of things is more about the parents, usually the mothers, and if you are willing to pay enough your kid will get into certain contests, kind of like the dudes paying for all kinds of lessons for their unathletic sons.

Well said. Hopefully the kids who aren't able to qualify these are told "You better study hard in school because you are way too ugly to be a success if you don't.".

Think about the people who play basketball and then think about their lack of intelligence. Pretty certain there's a correlation there.

Even if you don't categorize it as sexual, I don't see how it's healthy to rate children's beauty. When you put them into these pagents, it seems like manipulation. Most will lose, instilling the idea that they were not born right, and the ones who won will be entitled assholes. Seems like a lose lose for the kids, and the only reason for these pageants to be held is the pleasure of the parents and other adults.

Sports, cheerleading, gymnastics are entirely different because you're teaching the kids work ethic.

I played soccer and baseball in college and had nothing to do in the winter until some chicks in sports bras asked if I wanted to try cheerleading. Seemed like a no brainer. You also get the bonus of some slutty coaches that you don’t get in men’s sports.

i was always jealous of the guys in grade school and high school who were big enough and willing to get into womens cheerleading. i do wonder as time goes on they will find more ways to let weaker dudes participate. these days, everything has to be equal

I had the pleasure of driving from Birmingham to southern Alabama this week and noticed a giant billboard advertising the world’s largest “Pageant Shop” which of course included numerous pictures of young girls in fancy dresses and tiaras. :puker:

I have friends (male) that were cheerleaders at Marquette. They had very good social lives in college.
