Ugh I don't know how this fuckin' thing got in here, but we have a mouse in the muthafuckin house.

This motherfucker is bold, too.

We are sitting here, my wife and I, watching a show in the great room, and Zzzzip - out of the corner of both of our eyes, we see this daring sonofabitch zip across the wall.

Fuck.

So, I go on youtube, and of course I get hooked on the "Shawn Woods' Mousetrap Monday" channel - which, I may add, is utterly fucking addicting, watching this dude slay hundreds of rodents using a different trap every week, some dating back to books almost 500 years old, but I digress. . .

We have small kids in the house, so I'm ruling poison out at this point. So, I make a pop can trap with a bucket, coat-hanger, and peanut butter, and. . . nada. This motherfucker is laughing at me now. I think I added too much dishwashing liquid to the water in an attempt to make the drowning humane and make the water more slippery, but now I can clearly smell the soap over the peanut butter. . .

So, I head to Menards to stock up. I bring home 10 jaws of death TomCat Traps, with the special sauce that is supposed to be irresistible to mice. This shit is supposed to be so delicious that the fucking mouse will pass up an open jar of peanut butter to get one dab of this sweet blue ointment.

10 fucking killer traps set. ... and now we wait.

I will post pics if and when I conquer this motherfucking punck fucking invader of my house.

Until then. . .

Catching that mouse is probably only 10% of the problem you currently face.

That thing got in the house somehow....that's the problem you really need to solve.
How did it get in?

The "sticky" traps really do work, provided you are cool with disposing of a live animal that is struggling to get off of a slab of glue.

We've been parking both cars in the garage due to the cold, so that might be one way - that door is opening and closing 10 times more than usual.

Also, we just replaced our dryer, and I did leave the vent tube unhooked for 2 days while we waited for the new one to get here. There is no screen on the exterior of the lint trap vent - I think because it would cause a huge clog. There's just a flap, so I could easily see how one on these things could climb the textured brick we have right into the duct.

Everything else is locked pretty tight.

With the kids here and all, I want it to be quick. Plus I want to hear a *snap* so I can go over and investigate and get you guys some pics. :cyclopsani:

The classic traps worked for me. Also the plastic ones that let them go in but not leave the trap. They are about the size of a ol VHS tape. Whatever you choose remember one sure fire bait. Peanut Butter.

I had a mouse running around my office one time. When you just catch a glimpse of those fuckers out of the corner of your eye and they are moving fast, they look a lot bigger than they are.

My mother was working for me as a bookkeeper. One day after she had left work for the day I had to go into her office for something. I saw that she had taken one of those two cracker packages of Saltines that come with soup and broken about half a cracker up into little bits on her desk. She was feeding the mouse!

When she came in to work the next morning I asked her if she was out of her fucking mind. Then I walked down the street to Ace Hardware and came back with a couple of traps. My mom saw me setting them up in the corners and she said, "If you kill that mouse in one of those traps, I'm quitting." I was like, "What the fuck?" I was able to corner the little bastard near the back door and sweep him outside with a broom.

I get them in my garage, but no evidence in my house at least. Classic traps work just fine. Except the few times when the fucker takes the bait off without disarming the trap.

They are smart little fuckers. The right way to do it is to bait the traps without setting them for a few days so they get comfortable.

An alpha cat wouldn't need a trap.

That trap looks like an office two hole paper punch.

Mice can enter thru a hole smaller than a dime. They compress their skeletons and can wiggle thru impossibly small spaces. You might not even see the home from which they come in. Hire a pro.

My good buddy runs a pest control company. I already have him coming over to ID any POEs, seal the place up and secure.

Had problems with mice a few years back. I live next to a farm so we get a lot of them. Bought one of the mice repellers and have not seen one mouse since. Have not seen any mouse poop in the garage either since plugging it in. My dad used them in his house and he told me about them. I didn't think it would work, but for 20.00 I was willing to give it a try. So far more then happy with it.

Like JOrr said, bait the traps for two nights without setting them. Peanut Butter works great because they can't steal the bait and run.

Mice also do not like lemon or peppermint, so if there is a known entrance put a few drops of either nearby and the mice will avoid that area.

Remember that a mouse can get into the house through a hole the size of a penny.
Mice always travel around walls. They will not usually cross a floor, even to get to food.
That said, the traps should always be set along walls.
The standard old-fashioned traps work fine and don't even need to be baited at all.
The mice will run over them if they are placed in the point of travel.
The glue board traps work fine except sometimes the mice will chew them off at the point they are stuck to.
Mice die in a day when they are stuck to a glue trap because they die from hypothermia due to losing
body heat from not being able to move around. This occurs even when the temperature is very warm.
