Sort of the last long weekend of summer. What do you have on tap?

Big car show up here Saturday in Kenosha, highly recommend if you like classic cars, hot rods, and even newer model super cars. They generally get about 1200-1500 vehicles and close the entire downtown to traffic. It's a great time stopping in for a beer and then walking around looking at stuff. Weather should be great. That afternoon they have something called Cheese A Palooza which will have live music and a bunch of food carts and stands as well.

Going to golf all three mornings of course. Probably get out the grill or smoker at some point. Hoping to catch some live music over the weekend as well. I know Cheese A Palooza will have a Rolling Stones cover band in the afternoon so that might be interesting.

Taste of Polonia in Jefferson Park. I may even be working a booth on Friday night...no ladies, not the kissing booth. My wife is doing something. My kids are going for the brawl between ND and St. Pats. I could just have me time.

Saturday morning is SICP football. Maybe a late breakfast or lunch after. My friend invited me to the Lumineers at Wrigley saturday night. I probably know more than one song of theirs but I don't recall. My wife is going with other people so we'll probably all hang out before.

Sunday, I have to go to an in laws birthday party hosted in Munster. Host has a pool, which is good. The bad is that I was just with all these people for two straight weeks in Ireland earlier in the month. I'm kind of all filled up on in lawing at the moment.

Monday, I don't know. That's enough the rest of the weekend so something with just us.

I always enjoyed wrestling against St. Pat's in high school. They talked a lot and were kind of dirty, but they were often a little out of shape and pretty dumb on the mat.

Will be hustling while all the scrubs are BBQing and drinking beers because success isn't owned. It's leased and rent is due every day. Hustling is rent in this case.

:( I'm sorry.

Little dude's 4th birthday party this weekend. Literally blinked and he is 4. So, yard work, garage/house cleanup, shopping, etc will take up most of my time. I may get up at the crack of dawn and play 9 holes Saturday morning. Sunday is the big party, and Monday will be cleanup.

Eh...it's all good. Halfway to St Patrick's Day. My buddy and I are going...will make the best of it. Good seats and the park crawl pregame. A day at a bad baseball game is better than a lot of things. Plus I can heckle whichever stiff is playing right that day.

Check some of the self serve or grab and go stations they have. When I was there a couple weeks ago, they had some tall Founders and Ravnia cans that they will no longer carry on sale for $7. That's not a bad price at a bar, and a complete steal at a ballgame.

I like Founders beers...They would need to pay me 7 bucks to drink a Ravinia beer. Those all taste like Miller Lite cut with White Zinfandel.

I guess there are beer specials early...I haven't been to the park in quite some time, so I'm looking forward to it.

I have a warm spot in my heart for Pat's because my dad went there. He may go to the game because it is so close. I told him the future cops might be fighting the future fireman in the parking lot afterwards so it might not be a good spot for him.

I'm supposed to play 9 holes Friday. Hopefully the back cooperates. Other than that, I need to work on the house. I haven't really done anything with my late wife's things since she passed in early July and I'm not sure that I am ready to yet. So, I'll focus on decluttering my stuff and maybe make a few Goodwill trips. I ordered a DVD player for some Yoga/workout videos that I have and a Garmin watch for both golf/fitness. My buddy who is a personal trainer drew up a plan for me to workout from home using the stuff that I have. So, I'll start doing that. Still trying to figure out the bigger picture of what life looks like alone, so the long weekend with nothing on my schedule might be a beginning to that.

you never really have to be alone during football season

I think that is part of the allure

That's true. Good point. My Gophers play tonight and some great games over the weekend. Looking forward to opening NFL season as well. I enjoy the banter on here about the Bears/Vikings prospects.

What about the Walworth County fair. That looks pretty good. Republican country too.
And Halestorm tomorrow. Foreigner Sunday.

Looks like ND dominated against St. Pat's 35-14.

I get to work nights this weekend, then off Monday and Tuesday, 60 more hours next week.

I cut some fourth cutting hay Tuesday, we plan to bale this afternoon before I go to work. Should be able to get it on wagons and under cover, if not loaded into the hay mow.

It feels funny being the guy at work at an IBEW shop on Labor Day, but somebody has to keep the lights on.

Working Monday, normally we would down staff for holidays, but not back to normal yet, less COVID, but more traumas at our place, so continual influx of shootings, car vs pedestrian (Rockford seems to lead the world in the category), motorcycle/ATV crashes (tons of hapless goofs riding ATV's down the middle of busy streets in Rockford), and the never ending parade of old geezers falling and breaking bones.

Off all the rest of next week, quick gambling trip next weekend.

ND smoked Willowbrook last week.

After a couple of down years, they look to be way up again.

Fished on Lake Michigan from daylight to 3 PM on Saturday followed by grilling, a couple beers, and some extracurriculars with the wife. It was a helluva day. Sunday we are having a family party for my daughter's birthday. More grilling, beer drinking, and the Nascar race at Darlington to cap off the day. Monday- going fishing on the Cal Sag for half a day, try to squeeze in a nap, and grilling leftover party food. That's a damn good weekend for staying home.
