I always figured all inclusive adult resort= skeevy swingers vacation with people who's aesthetic is that of HBO's Real Sex

It is tough to get cheap all inclusives especially with flight costs today. And of course you get what you pay for food and drink quality wise. Mexico has the cheapest and plenty of good areas, but you would be better off going to a non all inclusive and venturing out to local restaurants to eat. The breakfast buffets make me gag at most of these places.

That is why I was asking if anyone knew of anyplace off the radar. I don't have an issue paying a bit more when it is just my wife and I but when we are paying for 4 people, am willing to take a step down to make it a bit more affordable. We are not really interested in even going off the resort, but the kids likely would. I'll take a look at the ones you mentioned at some point. You are correct on the airfare. Years ago the airfare was almost a throw in just to get you down there, now it is a big chunk of the price.

We just booked Secrets in Cap Cana in the DR.

Haven't done used them in the DR, but did a Secrets in Puerto Vallarta and another in Montego Bay and both were top notch. Beautiful grounds, awesome service, drinks were good, and there was quite good food available if you searched a little.

Some of the entertainment was cheesy as to be expected, but on some nights they had some pretty good shows or outside troupes doing their thing.

Not sure how a breakfast buffet could make anyone gag. The usual bacon, sausage, egg, potatoes, pastries as staples, with MANY other items available.

Buffets are fine for a meal or two.

Not really. At U of I, we told people what suburb we were from because it seemed like half the campus was from the Chicago burbs.

The reason suburbanites tell people they are from Chicago is because when you travel out of the country or somewhere like NY, no one knows Naperville or Schaumburg. I continue to be baffled why you city snobs worry that us Mecca folk say we are from Chicago or even worse from the fictional Chicagoland.

My wife is adamant about taking her kids on a family trip after her son graduates tech school this spring. We've been to a number of nice resorts in Mexico just the two of us but looking for someplace that is pretty good and more reasonably priced. Any suggestions you have been to in the past? We are leaning towards Cancun but open to other suggestions, especially if the pricing is right. We don't care about the beach, especially since that area is notorious for seaweed. Nice pools, strong drinks and good food is pretty much what we are looking for. Thanks in advance.

I've repeated this plenty of times I am sure but the strangest phenomenon at Purdue was asking someone "Where are you from?" and they respond "Chicago" and I say "City or suburbs?" and they say "The Region".

You aren't even in the same state as Chicago. You're a suburb of Gary.
