It's pretty amazing to me that I've never seen this or even heard about it until yesterday. Friend of mine showed it to me. I thought we knew everything about Jordan. This was a 1985 Nike exhibition game in Italy. Pretty amazing. This was skinny Jordan. He was probably only 180 pounds at the time. They say 12 guys have done it and he's the lightest guy to ever do it. Shows you his power. Did you guys ever see this or know it happened? Here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te-8MJ84834 |

I don't even know if it's right. That's what I read. |

When I was at UofI, Shaq came into town with LSU and saw we had a goal that he wanted to pull the whole thing to the ground. I think they have the hydraulic safeties on them now but this one didn't around 1991 or so. It was the game Rennie Clemons dunked on him (he almost did but when the legend becomes fact, print the legend). Shaq didn't bring it down. |

I couldn't believe my eyes when Shaq demolished the one on Easter 2003 (?) and that replaced it so quickly. Didn't Snake Norman get one down in IMPE??? |

But I’m curious. Did you know Jordan did this? I didn’t. It was a cool thing I found out. Want to know if I shared it or I was the only idiot that didn’t know it happened. |

One of my high school teammates did it in high school. He was about 6’2 and 185 or so. I think he just happened to dunk it just right and it had some weakness. Just a one handed dunk and hung on the rim kinda like Jordan did. This was back in 1992 and I don’t think they really had the breakaway rim perfected yet. Everybody was very surprised. A bunch of us took some of the glass as a memento. |

I grew up with a couple of brothers, Kevin and Beaver White, who lived just over the border in Evanston. Their dad was an assistant at Crane and he recruited all kinds of guys to go there. He got Cory Blackwell to transfer off an Evanston team that had a decent chance to win a state title and got Bobby Thomas- who eventually played on that Austin Peay team that upset the Illini- to come to Crane from Loyola. He tried to get this seven footer named Barry Sumpter to come up from Lovejoy, but the big city scared him and he was homesick. He played at Louisville and I think maybe Austin Peay too. Maybe Mr. White had some connection with Austin Peay. Barry may have had a cup of coffee (and opened some mail) in the NBA. Anyway, they brought Ken Norman to play pickup at our park when he was a high school sophomore. I think he was going by Ken Colliers at that time. He was skinny as a rail. Like maybe 6'4", 150 lbs. He wasn't close to as good as Beaver White at the time. Beaver played at NIU. His real name is Deron. I think Mr. White was an assistant to McDougal and recruited like hell. Kenny Battle started out there and one of the Douglas brothers. |

Beaver White has to be the worst nickname I've ever heard. |

A high school kid shattered a backboard on a very average dunk at a shoot out we were at this summer. |
