I wanted to run this by you: The Hateful Eight is Tarantino's most underrated film by far. What did you think of it?

Excellent topic.

I’m currently watching Lindsay Lohan’s latest endeavor, a charming little Netflix film wherein a spoiled heiress appears to be on the cusp of learning the true meaning of Christmas. I’m half way through, so forgive my assumption if wrong (maybe she stays spoiled…)

Question: do you think the scene where Lohan’s Sierra Belmont is sprayed in the face with toilet water is intended to remind society we need to re-focus on what’s important and not spend so much time on irrelevant shit? Or is it perhaps meta-commentary on the impacts of climate change on western states given the wealthy’s overconsumption of humanity’s most vital resources?

No. That's got to be True Romance.

Hmmm. Need a W_Z ruling on this, but whatever the answer is, it will pretty much be win-win.

I hope Zack says to add "Mr. B. Natural" to the list. I know it's a short, but it kicks! Maybe Pod People, too.

I had a thread for that long ago in the Movies section. And damnit, it was well thought out. I can't find it now. It might still exist but I couldn't locate it.

It was more, at the time, a guidebook to Top 10 Episodes I would encourage non-fans to watch. But this is my Top 10 Favorite as of now:

10. Werewolf
9. Mitchell
8. Time of the Apes
7. Zombie Nightmare
6. Santa Claus
5. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
4. Time Chasers
3. Space Mutiny
2. The Final Sacrifice
1. Manos: The Hands of Fate

Take out the Christmas episodes, and I'm throwing in:

Master Ninja I
Hobgoblins

the most important element to any christmas holiday wine mom movie is...ditching the zero to getting with the hero. be it a royal prince to a farmboy or...vice versa.

"jackie brown". i don't know whether it's considered "underrated" today but it's his movie. "true romance" was written by him but not directed by him. this falls into that category shared by "natural born killers" and "from dusk til dawn". has his mark but isn't owned.

Thats a pretty solid list. I’d have Time Chasers at 2 and Santa Claus at 3 but that’s quibbling. Hobgoblins and Pod People would make the list for me as well.

On a related note, I see they will be running a Turkey Day marathon again this year :alien:

Definitely underrated. And because it's on so relatively rarely, it's a must watch for me.

Werewolf at 10 is interesting. Its always Space Mutiny/Werewolf with me. Reb Brown did an appearance at a comic book con because he was Captain America on tv so he was getting Captain America questions from everyone else and Space Mutiny and Robowar questions from me.

1. Space Mutiny (Trying to do speeders scene from Jedi with floor waxers + Cameron Mitchell)
2. Werewolf (Joe Estevez meets the waarwoolf)
3. Giant Spider Invasion (the skipper doing improv and Packers!!!)
4. Pod People (making a horror film then ET comes out while filming so they try and make him loveable)
5. Boggy Creek II (man is the real monster...or at least Crenshaw is)
6. Devil Fish (Fernado Cortez and Italian Tim Roth)
7. Final Justice (Joe Don Baker in a cowboy outfit hapooning people in Malta)
8. Samson vs. the Vampire Women (only a crime solving luchador can crack this case)
9. Future War (Jean Claude Van Damme (if you squint a bit) vs. Bobby Z'Dar)
10. The Final Sacrifice (Rowsdower)

Honorable Mention: Track of the Moon Beast, Pumaman, Hobgoblins

Makes you wonder how a movie with Pam Grier couldst be underrated. This is a stupid country.

She was hotter than hot in Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Both great. Top 10’s are difficult. I also love “Pod People”, “Fugitive Alien”, “Touch of Evil”, and “Quest of the Delta Knights” to name some others.

The Netflix reboot had some great ones as well. “Mac n’ Me”, “Wizards”, and “Cry Wilderness”.

Birdemic on RiffTrax is fantastic as well and on par with any of the MST episodes above imo.

‘Jackie Brown’ is Elmore Leonard’s story, not written by Tarantino. I do agree it’s his most underrated film tho.. as well as most likely his best film.

Definitely underrated. And because it's on so relatively rarely, it's a must watch for me.

There's a nostalgia / importance at time of my life that will always keep Pulp Fiction #1 for me. Objectively speaking, though....Jackie Brown is likely his best movie and I fully agree it's underrated.

It's kind of like looking at Slayer's catalog. "Reign In Blood" is what defines Slayer. In terms of refining and perfecting their sound, "Seasons In the Abyss" is their best work, but Reign In Blood is where Slayer made the mark on the world.

Agreed. Pulp Fiction was like the 1st Championship. It was remarkable for the time. I also feel that way about One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

my friend and i were having this discussion and for me "hell awaits" is the one i spin the most. "seasons" is also great, probably my second favorite. "reign" is definitely the most popular and probably the crown jewel.
