it's 2023 anyone notice a push last year or so to shy away from email contact? im guessing it's a fraud/spam thing but man, when you have to contact a large company and they refuse to communicate through email, it really sucks. you have to CALL a phone number which either goes right to voicemail or an endless hold loop. and they will return your voicemail, but your cell phone isn't like your old landline. it rings about 4 times and even if it's on your person you have a good chance of missing the green button in time. Just dial right back right? HAHAHA they don't answer. But i guess that's the better path than the illinois toll system... "you may dispute these charges" and of course no phone number, email or any fucking way to contact them on the bill

It's a fraud thing, place I work for got hacked into a few years ago, our entire medical charting system went down for half a day.

They went to a chaotic sign in process where you have to authenticate through your phone and use an approval code to log into the email system, but most people just do not check work emails anymore because they never have set up the authentication app.

if its a fraud thing though, that can be handled better through email with the right system. the ones where all correspondence goes through one address, and they get forwarded internally based on the sender and subject. It will even tag the initial email with a ticket number, so all communication stays in one pool for the issue or job. It has the inherit ability to handle fraud because any email chain can be flagged as spam, allowing all future influxes from emails with that subject or sender to stay in that ignored pool.

but from what i have seen, whether it's government or very large corporations... they are sticking with phone calls or snail mail.
