Benchmade getting too pricey, esp for something I seem to lose way too often. Lost a black-on-black automatic Cashban Benchmade over the holidays and more recently a carbon fiber Mini Bugout mysteriously wasn't there when I wokeup one morning. Both were under 200 when I bought em. cost 200 to 300 now to replace. CIVIVI seem popular. Kershaw? Bear and Son? Anyone have a knife brand they like. |

Sort of tough to convince anyone that you "believe" in the signature achievements of the Homo Habilis species when your life's work has involved doing any and everything you can to get as far away from them as you possibly can. Sounds good when you are engaging like minded guys on a message board I guess. |

What do you want? An OTF? A fixed? An assisted? I'm an OTF guy myself and I bought the Benchmade Infidel. I'm really happy with it. It's a very very nice knife. But it's not a workhorse. Its a defense knife. For workhorses, I'd buy an Osborne. |

Heavy ass knife with the flipper style auto release makes it a bit of hazard first-time someone messes with it. I like to have a fixed blade in sheath (horizontal across the belt line in back is a nice spot), an auto release in a jacket pocket, EDC wrist-flip style (like a Bugout or Griptilian style, mini or full-size) in a pants pocket and then a boot knife in my Blundstones when I'm hiking---or scoring dope on the west side of Detroit. |

Yeah that Bigout is really nice. Last thing I can think of is that benchmade has an incredible service plan. Unlimited sharpening and adjustments. It's called lifesharp. Nice little program. |

They aren't nearly as nice as Kershaw and definitely not in the same class as Benchmade but CRKT makes a decent mid-range knife in my opinion. I worked with multiple knife manufacturers for years in my previous role at my current company. I don't think they make anything fully auto if that is what you are looking for though. |

CRKT--do they do white label production for other brands? There's one US brand that's huge in the manufacturing for other brands. Can't recall right off which one. I like their gear, a bit more pizzazz than Benchmade. First clicked on their website and saw the Facet for $275 and I'm like, "oh, crap, these are all gonna be too pricey to buy and lose" but then looking through their offerings it's mostly very reasonable priced. They even have mutil-tool blades, already got a Razel Nax in the basket , https://www.crkt.com/shop/whats-new/razel-nax.html , that'll be very useful out on the trails. gotta find a sheath or some shit to carry it, maybe just hang it off the pack. The M4-02 looks like a good candidate for an EDC pocket knife. When buying knives, it's not what you need, it's what you want and can afford. |

Spaulding wrote: Kershaw the Kershaw launch series of OTFs / automatics all over BladeHQ. Gonna try one of those. If I can figure out the difference among them all. They have a lot of autos. I just hope they work as well in October as they do April through September. |

We sell them private branded and not branded. They have a nice range of things at various prices. I have a Razel but not the one you pointed out. Love that squared off blade look. We get a lot of samples here so luckily don't think I have ever paid for a knife before. |

Despite Ice Cube's claim re: AK-47s, guns are horribly limited, one-dimensional tools. Plus they're heavy. Gimme some blades and few canisters of bear spray and i'll be fine out in the woods, at least east of the Rockies. I don't fuck with Grizzly bear territory. I'll run up on a black bear and try to get a selfie with it but a grizzly's no joke. |

Why switch when you can just have two knives? |
