HawaiiYou wrote: why were they cheering when it blew up? was it expected to blow up? for the most part yes. apparently there was a 40 second delay before the launch ... i guess it was decided then to just go and see what it does. they never planned on a controlled landing anyway, it was scheduled to drop into the ocean and not be used again. so even if the launch was perfect it wouldn't have given much more data than what they got, so they feel it was a highly successful test. also you never really gain in testing without failure. |
