Parent sharing pictures of 8th grade graduation with an announcement her son is going to repeat 8th grade a different school so he can get bigger for high school athletics. Not the first kid to "red shirt" in junior high, just the first I have seen with the announcement accompanied by 8th grade graduation pictures.

Here in PA there is no such thing as 8th grade graduation. No party, now cap and gown, no ceremony or diploma. Move along to ninth and don't be late.

I don't get this, by Sophomore year of high school they are all pretty much caught up anyways(height wise).
