depends on what kind of position and how qualified they appear to be otherwise. i dunno about other industries, but we've been trying to hire folks for going on 2 months, interviewing candidate after candidate. After a couple dozen 2nd round interviews--which means there were at least that many 1st rounders that didn't make the cut for the technical mumbo-jumbo, solve algorithms while 4 people with your future in their hands stare back at you via zoom--we've only hired one guy who graduated with honors from UofI engineering (yes, asian, of course--but non-chiner asian, duh).

it's a tight labor market for employers looking to hire qualified folks. 5 minutes doesn't seem like the worst thing if otherwise qualified.

It's probably generous to say subconsciously. Few things piss me off more.
