For those who have gotten them, do you just pay so it goes away? Or is there anyone here who just refuses to pay?

I think this topic has been covered previously. Objectively watch the tape (or film) and decide if you are guilty or not. Which you likely are. If guilty, pay. If you feel you are not, then ask for a review. But no, non-payment will not make it go away. The fine will increase and it could also land on your credit report.

Depends where and how often you’ll be there. There’s no real consequence if you don’t pay until you get pulled over in that jurisdiction.

This reminds me of a few years ago when my daughter borrowed my car. She got a parking ticket but blew it off and didn't tell me. I found out when it was deducted from my State of Illinois Tax Refund.

I thought the red lights were different than speeding or parking tickets. They're not municipal. They're private 3rd party scams. You can't get in trouble from the cops if you don't pay them, but they can end up as a derogatory on your credit report.

And no, nobody has ever successfully fought one. Ever. They're not legal tickets, therefore you can't get a judge to rule in your favor.

this is correct.

my experience is like 25 years old but i think it still applies.

I got some bullshit red light ticket in the mail. it was not a summons. it was just a shitty looking ticket saying i didnt stop at a red light and had a picture of me driving.

i talked w my lawyer friend at the time and he said throw that shit away. don't even respond. if it's not a summons it means shit. it was some 3rd party company the city employed to catch traffic violations on camera.

that's what I did and nothing happened.

That's good to know. I should have done the same. I talked to a lawyer too, and he said there's no recourse because it's not a municipal ticket. Yes, they can put it on your credit report, but I think there's issues with companies doing that willy nilly.

Spectrum is trying to do that to me now. It's probably easier to win the war in gaza than it is to cancel charter/Comcast/spectrum subscription, but I managed to do it. Fast forward 3 months, they believe I owe them $80.

Eat. My. Fucking. One. Slimey. Butt hair you cock suckin tranny fuck. Worst company on the planet.

Watch video. If it's marginal, show up to court date and respectfully argue your case.

I pay em in the city because they'll boot me. I don't pay them in the suburbs.

That's how my dad went to jail when he was 18. He got a court fine, and on the check he wrote fuck you on the memo. The judge summoned him to court and made him sit overnight.

But it probably wouldn't happen for a red light ticket BECAUSE ITS NOT A TICKET. ITS NOT A MUNICIPAL FINE. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH COURT. ITS A PRIVATE BUSINESS BILL, NOTHING MORE.

In Arizona, you have 90 days to be served. None of the cities spend the money on process servers.

Just pay it. Isn't your time worth more than the $250 or whatever it is to fuck around with it?

These are interesting takes. And as luck would have it, I may have earned one the other day, I think in Wheeling. In fact just a few hours after posting my initial response.

If I do get one I may not pay it, at least not quickly, just to see what happens.
